Whenever I write a letter to someone, I add a footnote briefly explaining Ohm's law.
It's my P.S. de resistance.

I face more ideological resistance from students today than I did 10 years ago.
Here's what I mean.
Yesterday, I had a group of 14-year-olds argue with me about capitalization.
Many of them rarely use capital letters correctly in their writing, and they genuinely believe capitalization is unnecessary, or even "dumb."
When I told them that I take points off for ignoring capitalization, they insisted it was unfair.
Ten years ago, I almost never had conversations like this.
Students might have forgotten the rules. They might have been careless. But they rarely argued that the rules themselves didn't matter.

Nigel gives "That's your favorite band? Name every song then" energy. Screw that jerk. Here's me with the most beautiful moth I've ever seen in the wild and one of the coolest encounters in my life.

Anyone who has been around Brixton station of late will be aware that the area is covered in litter. Bins are overflowing, there is a severe homelessness issue and it's crackhead/anti-social behaviour galore. So, shall we check in on what Lambeth Council will be spending time discussing at its meeting this evening?
Well! Tonight Lambeth Council, led by a Green-Lib Dem coalition is due to discuss Motion 3 (Green Group): Palestine – End the Genocide, Complicity and Impunity. "This motion condemns Israel's actions in Gaza, calls for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages. It also calls on the UK Government to halt arms exports, impose economic sanctions, and provide evidence to the International Criminal Court. It further proposes that the Council review its contracts and investments to divest from companies complicit in violations of international law."
Note they haven't even been bothered to update the language still referencing hostages...
This is Lambeth Council's priority while some of the worst crime and antisocial behaviour in London is happening as we speak within its boundaries.

To the guy who was also running to catch the train, saw me trip and fall on the platform, and actually turned around to come back for me instead of just carrying on with his life…
You pulled me up while yelling, “COME ON, BRO, WE CAN DO THIS!” and somehow managed to get us BOTH onto the train.
Bro, I don’t know your name, I don’t know where you were going, and I will probably never see you again, but please know that you have permanently altered my brain chemistry.
You could have kept running. You could have pretended you didn’t see me. Instead, you chose to become my personal motivational coach in the middle of a full-blown public transportation crisis.
I hope your pillow is always cold, your trains are always on time, your food is always delicious, and life gives you the same energy you gave me that day.
Because I swear, every time I’m struggling with something for the rest of my life, I will hear a random man screaming, “COME ON, BRO, WE CAN DO THIS!” directly into my soul.
I hope you know you’re an absolute legend. The world needs more people like you. ❤️😭

This is abhorrent. We have registered charities in this country openly promoting misogyny and violence against women.
I have written to the Chair of the @ChtyCommission to raise these particular cases and to establish what they are doing to prevent charitable status being used to promote abuse under the veneer of religion.
As @CPhilpOfficial rightly says, the Police need to be investigating these individuals too.
@NJ_Timothy @joymorrissey
The work of @NatSecSoc to challenge misogyny in the charity sector, including in mosques, features in today’s Mail on Sunday.
Charity regulators – and anyone else concerned with protecting women from abuse – cannot ignore this.

These imams told Muslim men they should beat their wives.
They said "physical discipline" should be used if they are "disobedient" or deny sex.
I've written to the CPS - they must prosecute these barbaric preachers.

This is me at 9.
According to Islamic law, I was already a woman, legally old enough to be married off.
My consent wasn't needed; my father's consent was enough.
This is the Islamic doctrine that still exists and still gets defended.
I’m an ex-Muslim. I won’t stay quiet while Islam gets whitewashed, excused, or ignored.
Parents have a duty to teach their kids what this ideology actually permits, before it reaches them.
If you care about the next generation, stop protecting the ideology and start protecting the children, and your society for the sake of the next generation.

You aren't supposed to get your childlike wonder back. That was created for you in part by the adults who loved and cared for you. Once you grow up, it's your turn to give it to someone else.

Your balloon release could cost an animal its life.
Birthday balloons, memorial balloons, beautiful gestures sent floating into the sky. I understand the sentiment, especially when remembering someone we love. But what goes up must come down, and so often it’s our countryside and farmland that become the final resting place. Balloons and their ribbons can entangle wildlife, be swallowed by livestock and leave litter scattered across our beautiful landscape.
A few moments of celebration can leave devastating consequences. Please find a different way. @KeepBritainTidy @cleanupbritain @CPRE @RSPCA_Official @nationaltrust @WoodlandTrust @mcsuk @NFUTweets
