Wednesday, 21 October 2026 – The Oman Energy Association (OPAL) organized a workshop for the Operators Safety, Health and Environment Managers Committee (OSHEMCO), hosted by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The workshop focused on reviewing the energy sector’s HSE performance, assessing progress on key initiatives, and discussing strategic priorities for 2027. Discussions covered strengthening safety standards and practices, fostering safety leadership, advancing environmental initiatives, and exploring how digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) can support continuous improvement in HSE performance. The committee also highlighted the role of OPAL forums in facilitating knowledge sharing, exchanging industry best practices, and fostering greater collaboration across the energy sector.

Wednesday, 21 October 2026 – The Oman Energy Association (OPAL) and Ministry of Labour and have signed a cooperation agreement to provide 300 job opportunities for Omanis in turnaround maintenance projects. The initiative will provide 180 opportunities for redundant workers and 120 for job seekers through direct employment, Training for Employment (TFE) and skills development programmes. The project aims to increase Omani participation in turnaround maintenance projects by developing technical and professional skills to meet labour market needs. The Candidates will be employed by Superiority of Modern Services (SOMS).

Monday, 19 October 2026 - The Oman Energy Association (OPAL) welcomed a delegation from The Centre for Measurement at Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education (OAQA) to learn about OPAL’s Professional Licensing Framework, including its operational model and key practices. The visit featured an overview of the professional licensing process, from the development of occupational standards and job mapping to the role of assessment centres in evaluating occupational competencies and verifying compliance with licensing requirements. Both parties also discussed opportunities to leverage this framework to strengthen alignment between education and training outcomes and labour market needs, helping ensure that professional competencies meet the evolving requirements of the economy.

Monday, 19 October 2026 – The Oman Energy Association (OPAL) and Seeh Al Sarya Engineering LLC have signed a cooperation agreement to provide 101 training-for-employment opportunities for Omani jobseekers across a range of technical and supervisory roles, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour. The agreement aims to deliver specialised training programmes that equip Omani nationals with the technical skills and professional competencies required for their respective roles, in line with the requirements of targeted positions and the needs of the energy sector. Trainees who successfully complete the programmes and meet the required occupational competency standards will be employed by Seeh Al Sarya Engineering LLC. This partnership reflects OPAL’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with energy sector companies, expand training and employment opportunities for Omani nationals, support Omanisation, and contribute to national workforce development.

Thursday , 15 October 2026 – The Oman Energy Association (OPAL), with the participation of the Ministry of Labour and in collaboration with Salalah Free Zone and Nama Dhofar Services, organised two workshops titled “Professional Licensing: The Gateway to the Formal Labour Market.” The workshops targeted human resources and personnel managers at private sector establishments in the Governorate of Dhofar. The two sessions featured a comprehensive visual presentation delivered by the Energy and Minerals Sector Skills Unit, highlighting the importance of professional licensing and its role in enhancing the capabilities of the national workforce and regulating various fields of work in accordance with approved professional standards. These workshops form part of the ongoing efforts of OPAL and its partners to raise awareness of the importance of professional licensing among private sector establishments and support initiatives to regulate and develop the labour market, contributing to enhancing the capabilities of the national workforce and ensuring compliance with approved professional standards in the Governorate of Dhofar.

Monday, 12 October 2026 – The Oman Energy Association (OPAL), in collaboration with DSS Institute, hosted a leadership development session titled “Leadership Focus: Driving Engagement, Psychological Safety, and Cultural Transformation,” bringing together leaders and representatives from across the energy sector. The session explored key leadership concepts, including leadership mindsets and behaviours, employee engagement, psychological safety, and the integration of intellectual and emotional intelligence (IQ and EQ). Through interactive discussions and practical activities, participants gained valuable insights into enhancing leadership effectiveness, fostering a positive organisational culture, and strengthening decision-making capabilities.
