Wow! Many thanks to BAR for including Modibo Kadalie's "Intimate Direct Democracy" on this list. BAR's founding editor, Bruce Dixon, was a friend of ours. We miss him dearly.
Even “radical” books by “radical” authors are launched into capitalism’s diamond-dusted dreamwold, begging a question concerning the definition of who or what is indeed a “radical.”

Benjamin Zephaniah's passing reminded me that I had a sticker lying around somewhere with a beautiful quote of his... Took me a bit to find it but here it is:

ALT A stylised picture of Benjamin Zephaniah, accompanied by a quote of his: "Fuck power - and let's just take care of each other. Most people know that politics is failing. The problem is they just can’t imagine an alternative. They lack confidence. I simply blanked out all the advertising, I turned off the ‘tell-lie-vision’, and I started to think for myself. Then I really started to meet people – and, trust me, there is nothing as great as meeting people who are getting on with their lives, running farms, schools, shops, and even economies, in communities where no one has power. That's why I'm an anarchist."
"Scars of Bondage [...] ranks among the earlier classical studies of new world enslavement, resistance, self-emancipation, and self-governance, alongside W.E.B. Du Bois’s Black Reconstruction in America (1935) and C.L.R. James’s Black Jacobins (1936)."

Sorry, but no, Georgia’s Stone Mountain Park did not “open/ in 1965 in response to interest sparked by the film ‘Gone With The Wind.’”
It was built as a racist celebration of slavery and to honor treasonous Confederates who tried to destroy America.

Really hope @PoliticsGPB @nigutb and @waberosescott don't start talking trash about @ATLSolFund this week. Public media needs to be a more accountable check on police repression, not a police-state accessory. Cops are out here arresting folks simply for bail fundraising. Tell it!
