I thought I was ready.
I set up my phone, fixed my hair, hand on my chest like "okay, let's document this journey."
The monitor is beeping, baby is fine. I'm smiling, I'm like "I got this."
Then it came.
That one contraction that doesn't warn you. It just climbs from your back to your front and takes your breath away.
My face changed before my brain could catch up. No acting. No filter. That's real labour.
I couldn't speak. I couldn't even hold the phone straight.
If you're watching this and you're about to give birth. You are stronger than you think.

When your fabric is too short to fold over for a hem, try using bias tape instead. It gives you a clean, professional finish without sacrificing any of the length.
Being stained in public is one mind wrecking experience. You'll feel like entering the floor.
I once spent an entire work meeting pretending I had a serious back problem because my period had leaked through my pants.
It started during a Monday morning staff meeting. I was sitting beside my manager when I felt that familiar warm sensation.
I knew immediately.
I quietly pulled my sweater down and spent the next 20 minutes sitting as still as a statue.
Then my manager announced that everyone should stand up and introduce themselves to the new director.
I nearly resigned on the spot.
When it was my turn, I stood up slowly and kept my folder behind me like I was guarding classified government documents.
The woman sitting across from me noticed something and whispered that I had something on the back of my pants.
I wanted the floor to open.
She quickly stood up, announced that she needed to show me something outside, and walked me straight to the restroom.
Thankfully, she had a spare pair of black leggings in her car.
I changed, thanked her about seventeen times and returned to the meeting.
The funniest part came later when my manager asked why I had disappeared.
Before I could answer, the woman said she had taken me to get some fresh air because I looked stressed.
Now everyone thinks she is the kindest colleague in the office.
Meanwhile, she knows she once saved my career from a bloodstain.
They'll drive the latest cars but live in rundown houses and park on the road. It baffles me.
If there is one thing I can never trade for anything, it's coming home to a decent comfortable home.
I don't mind if I have to walk everywhere all day, shop second hand clothes etc but the house I go back to everyday has to be good and welcoming accommodation.
That's why I don't understand, especially our people, that are comfy in some of these run down council properties.
I'm absolutely not against those that live there cos of need.
But you see those that drive the lastest cars, come out looking like kings and Queens....their wigs, perfumes, shoes cost a pretty sum. Na dem dey attend parties every weekend, dey sew asoebi.
Then they invite you to their home and it's shocking.
Like, how on God's earth are you okay being able to afford this level of flamboyancy and the home you come back to, the home you sleep in, cook in, eat in.....do EVERYTHING in, is like this??
Not everyone should have access into your home. Protect it at all cost
Experience has taught me some bitter lessons, and one thing I've learned is that sometimes, keeping people at a distance is the best way to protect your peace.
So, I had this friend back in university, we weren't particularly close, but whenever we crossed paths, the vibe was always good.
We both eventually found ourselves working in the banking industry before life took us in different directions, and we lost touch.
Recently,we reconnected on Facebook, turns out she's also living here in the US, just in another state, with her family.
We caught up, exchanged pleasantries, and everything was going beautifully, until madam casually announced that she's planning a trip to Minnesota and would love to stay at my house! 😭
When did our Facebook reunion turn into an Airbnb reservation?
Not even a "Do you know any nice hotels around?" Straight to my house!.Anyway, I politely told her NO. My home is not part of the reunion package. 😂
And this is exactly why I sometimes hesitate to reconnect with people from my past. You exchange a few greetings, laugh about old memories, and before you know it, someone is making accommodation plans in your house.
This see finish thing is getting out of hand! 😭😂
Am I being too protective of my space, or do some people genuinely confuse reconnecting with unlimited access to your personal life?
It'll be lovely if I could bring my dinner clothes to you for some splash of colour. I love unique designs
Posting into the void might not be easy, but we'll all taste it somehow. The big accounts experienced it in their early days. You just have to keep going
