ELON: STARLINK WILL BE FASTER THAN FIBER — THANKS TO PHYSICS Elon says Version 3 Starlink satellites launch in 6–9 months aboard Starship and will cut latency below 20ms. They’ll orbit at 350km, not 550km - shaving ~5ms just from shorter light-travel distance. Laser links in space move data ~40% faster than fiber. No traffic, no friction, just vacuum. Packets will fly faster off Earth than on it.
Replying to @elonmusk
With the version 3 Starlink satellites, which start launching on Starship in 6 to 9 months, we should be able to get latency below 20ms. The new, much larger satellites will be at ~350km instead of ~550km altitude, which cuts latency due to speed of light down to ~5ms. Also, the Starlink laser links transmit data ~40% faster in vacuum vs fiber, so packets will move faster than anything on the ground. Helps to have physics on your side!

🇺🇸 ELON: OPTIMUS WILL BE THE BIGGEST PRODUCT OF ALL TIME "The only company with all the ingredients for making intelligent humanoid robots at scale is Tesla. This is a super big deal. My prediction on this front is that Optimus will be the biggest product of all time by far. Nothing will even be close. I think it will be ten times bigger than the next biggest product ever made. Call me naive if you want. But I think there’s an imminent deescalation with China coming. 1. We are just weeks away from a full collapse of our economy without Chinese inventory. If ships start leaving China this weekend, they’ll get to the U.S. just in time to avoid that disaster. 2. Yesterday, Trump said he wouldn’t reduce tariffs on China under any circumstances. Today, he said he is very open to reducing the tariffs. He obviously knows his time is up playing the tough guy. 3. Trump said buy stocks today. The same exact comment he made before he paused all the tariffs on the rest of the world on April 9th. 4. Risk assets are relentlessly ripping. Bitcoin, Stocks, even Oil. Safe haven assets like Gold and Treasuries are selling. Really seems like the major market participants - whom we know have gotten tipped off by the administration before - know what is coming. Feel free to disagree with me.

NEURALINK REACHES $8.5B VALUATION — HERE’S WHO ELSE IS BETTING BIG ON ELON’S BRAIN TECH Neuralink is raising $500 million at an $8.5 billion valuation. The chip’s already in a human patient, doing what Elon promised: moving cursors, browsing the web — with nothing but brainwaves. But another side of the story now is who’s writing the checks... @foundersfund, backed by @peterthiel , is leading the round. Thiel — who co-founded PayPal with Elon — has long believed in radical tech to extend human capabilities. He sees Neuralink not just as medical innovation, but as the first serious step toward brain-machine fusion. @gigafund, run by Luke Nosek and Stephen Oskoui, is back in too. These are the early SpaceX insiders who helped fund Elon’s rocket dreams. Behind the scenes, they’ve stayed tightly aligned with his vision of turning science fiction into infrastructure. Also returning: @blakebyers ex-Google Ventures, now running Byers Capital. Insiders say Byers was sold early after Neuralink’s first patient demo — the moment cursor control went from concept to reality. The new round follows Neuralink’s 2023 raise of $280 million, which insiders say was oversubscribed within days. This time, top-tier funds were reportedly pre-calling to lock in allocation — even before terms were finalized. What’s next? The FDA-approved trials continue. Insiders close to the company say the next demo will push beyond movement — possibly involving memory or speech decoding. @elonmusk , as always, is already looking ahead. He’s hinted that future versions will allow high-speed mental communication and digital memory backup. The current raise? Just fuel for that vision. Source: Reuters, Bloomberg News

Scott Bessent accused China of having the world's most imbalanced economy due to its larger trade surplus. But a trade surplus is a sign of a productive economy. In contrast, the U.S. has the world's largest trade deficit. So our economy is also imbalanced, but in a bad way.

The world doesn't need Americans to buy stuff. Americans need the world to make stuff. There are consumers all over the world eager to buy what Americans can no longer afford. As the U.S. dollar falls and their own currencies rise, that is precisely what will happen.

So let’s just use Orange Boy’s brain rot poster for a second. Vietnam is getting charged 46% because: Vietnam exports $140B to us and only buys $10B from us which led to a $130B trade deficit. $130B/$140B is ~90% 90% divided by 2 is ~46%. Even when Vietnam drops their tariff rate from 7% to 0%, and the grifters start cheering for that “massive” victory, does that exempt Vietnam from this brain dead tariff? Or are we asking Vietnam, a country with a $400B GDP to start buying $100B per year of our exports to balance this? Is this about unfair tariff rates? Or unfair trade balances? This is so utterly chaotic and stupid.

Nike just lost nearly $10 billion in market cap in under an hour—because Trump slapped a 46% tariff on Vietnam, where Nike has over 450,000 workers and 130 factories. The stock cratered nearly 7%, and investors hit the panic button. That’s not “America First.” That’s tanking American companies while pretending it’s patriotism.

A couple reflections on the quantum computing breakthrough we just announced... Most of us grew up learning there are three main types of matter that matter: solid, liquid, and gas. Today, that changed. After a nearly 20 year pursuit, we’ve created an entirely new state of matter, unlocked by a new class of materials, topoconductors, that enable a fundamental leap in computing. It powers Majorana 1, the first quantum processing unit built on a topological core. We believe this breakthrough will allow us to create a truly meaningful quantum computer not in decades, as some have predicted, but in years. The qubits created with topoconductors are faster, more reliable, and smaller. They are 1/100th of a millimeter, meaning we now have a clear path to a million-qubit processor. Imagine a chip that can fit in the palm of your hand yet is capable of solving problems that even all the computers on Earth today combined could not! Sometimes researchers have to work on things for decades to make progress possible. It takes patience and persistence to have big impact in the world. And I am glad we get the opportunity to do just that at Microsoft. This is our focus: When productivity rises, economies grow faster, benefiting every sector and every corner of the globe. It’s not about hyping tech; it’s about building technology that truly serves the world.

Microsoft's supporting paper, published in Nature, does not support the claim that they have created a topological qubit. nature.com/articles/s4158… Peer reviewers of the Nature paper expressed concern that the paper misleadingly implies that a topological qubit was demonstrated or otherwise achieved: static-content.springer.com/esm/art%3A10.1…
