Wind and Mill, a windmill to regulate the water levels in the Netherlands. This one stands in Aalsmeer and was built in 1742. It is called the "Stommeermolen" and served to empty the polders. After a devastating fire, it was rebuilt in 1920. Always nice to bike past it.

The newest Odyssey - Boring? Yes, but... ODYSSEUS - This wonderful hero of Greek mythology. I lived his journey in high school while reading Homer's Odyssey multiple times. I crept in his skin, I resisted the songs of the sirens; I lost my men... Christopher Nolan's movie is impressive for sure, but BORING (my modest findings). From one battle into the other, all the time. Big, small, death on land and at sea. The monsters, the witches, the magic, the storms, the solitude all pass by at high speed, without context. They are just there. Zeus is often called upon, but there is not a sign of the deep Greek mythology and the inspiration for life. The complex world of the Gods has disappeared, making way for long scenes of battle. It is a story told not in sequence, but through parallel timelines and flashbacks. But the movie still offers a great lesson in endurance for many. Odysseus keeps going, no matter what. He comes home, Penelope waiting after all these years. The actors are brilliant: Anne Hathaway is amazing and captivating. Matt Damon is marvelous. Tom Holland is frail and promising as a new ruler. My advice: Read the poem. And watch the movie: YES. 🎬 What did you experience while watching the movie?
