Today marks 100 years since Frederick Banting, James Collip and Charles Best were awarded U.S. patents on #insulin.
They sold the patents to the University of Toronto for a symbolic $1, with Banting famously saying:

For Armistice Day this week, I've enhanced a rare autochrome of London's original Cenotaph (made of plaster & wood) taken 103 years ago in 1919. Public appreciation was so great a permanent version was made from Portland stone in 1920. This is original colour, not colourised.
