Oldham cannot function without an administration on the council. We’re the largest party. On the council and we have made offers to all parties to lead the town in a constructive manner that works for everyone. It is up to all of the parties to make a choice at the next meeting
Thank you to everyone in Oldham for their support for @bevcraig on Thursday!

🕊️ 206 years ago today, peaceful protesters demanding democracy were brutally cut down at Peterloo.
We remember the sacrifice of those who marched from Oldham & beyond.
Their struggle laid the foundations of our rights today.
Tonight at a meeting of Oldham Council, we took action to clamp down on unregulated HMOs. 🏘️
These small, often unlicensed properties can lead to unsafe living conditions and disrupt our communities. Here’s what we did ⬇️
Cllr Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, added:
“We won’t sit back while vulnerable residents are exploited or communities overwhelmed. This is about restoring control to local people and putting decent housing standards first.”
Tonight’s vote is a step towards safer homes, stronger communities, and a planning system that listens to residents.
We’re putting Oldham people first. 👊

A statement from the leader of the council, Cllr Arooj Shah, following the Prime Minister’s announcement of a national inquiry into child sexual exploitation: oldham.gov.uk/news/article/2…
ALT I welcome the Prime Minister's decision to launch a full national statutory inquiry into child sexual exploitation (CSE). It is right and proper to respect the findings from Baroness Casey as part of her National Audit on Group-Based Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

Labour is on the side of our national security and British Jobs
Today Parliament has been recalled, for the sixth sitting Saturday since World War 2, to take decisive action to save the British steel industry.
It’s essential that we preserve our core industries, fight for national security and safeguard British jobs.
