Reduce Redis Memory Costs with MessagePack: Boost Performance & Cut Storage Bills When you store JSON in Redis, a 10 MB data can balloon to ~30 MB in RAM, which drives up cluster size, bandwidth, and storage costs. Switching to MessagePack’s compact binary serialization shrinks that payload back to ~10 MB, speeds up (de)serialization, and slashes your bills. I just published an article that dives into how MessagePack can help and the benefits. The fact that Arsenal are getting criticised for not scoring from set pieces this season tells you all you need to know about people. 21 out of 22 goals have come from open play this season, and we’re still getting criticised for not scoring from set pieces, the same thing they criticised us for doing too much last season. Try to please people at your own risk.

I commend this. Because I suffered more than a year with meetings and follow up with Network Companies to install tower in my hometown. Finally, even before checking my hometown in the approved NUCAP locations - which was shortlisted of course - this is great. God bless NG.
NUCAP is here. Another major step towards connecting every Nigerian. Starting with the commissioning of our first site in Bende, Abia State, NUCAP will deliver 3,700 telecommunications towers across Nigeria, connecting close to 20 million Nigerians currently without access. For the farmer unable to reach a buyer, the trader unable to receive a payment, or the family unable to call for help, connectivity opens up possibilities too long denied. President @officialABAT’s ambition for a $1 trillion economy requires every Nigerian to have the opportunity to contribute and share in its prosperity. That is why this investment matters. With NUCAP, no community will be left behind. Explore the project and check your community at fmcide.gov.ng/nucap Promise made. Promise kept.

I honestly can’t put into words how grateful and proud I feel to have been part of this journey. I saw the dream when it was still just a dream, and today, seeing how far he has come is something I will always cherish. 🥹❤️

Woke up at 5am with a random thought: if I owned Lagos Life @LagosLifeApp , how would I keep customers coming back? My answer? @Shalom_HeyEliy Go the Pokémon Go route. Hide digital gems at spots across Lagos. Lekki, Yaba, Ikeja, the Island, the Mainland. Users open the app, explore the city, find the gems and win prizes. Some gems are easy to find. Some are rare and worth much more. Drop a few new ones every week so people always have a reason to check back. Now think about what that does. Users keep opening the app because there's always something new to hunt. Partner restaurants, malls and lounges host gems and get real foot traffic. Brands sponsor rare drops for visibility. People share their finds online and pull their friends in. The app stops being something you use once and becomes something you play. Retention isn't just about discounts and push notifications. Give people a reason to come back that feels fun, not forced. Turn the virtual city into the real life game. 🎮📍

Great idea
I actually sent a proposal to @LagosLifeApp and @Shalom_HeyEliy last week with this exact idea in mind. I've also pitched it to @DanfoRun. It's not enough for brands to simply place ads inside games. What if we reimagined advertising altogether? What if brands became part of the experience? In-game collectibles that unlock real-life rewards, brand quests, tokens for purchases, exclusive offers, and campaigns that give players a reason to engage beyond seeing an ad. For my butter brand, imagine a TSL Butter Hunt, Players find hidden butter jars in the game, with rare finds unlocking in-game rewards. Complete the hunt and unlock 10% off a real-life order from The Sunday Larder. Now imagine what this could look like for other brands, too. The product itself becomes part of the game, and the game becomes a way for people to discover and engage with brands beyond traditional advertising. The games get engagement, brands get potential customers, and players get rewarded. Everybody has a reason to participate. Advertising shouldn't just interrupt the experience. It should become part of the game. I'm open to more discussions, I do have more ideas

Your system works well with 500k users. What happens when you get to 5 million? Do you just add more servers? Last weekend, I delivered a session on “Building for Scale, at Scale” to the @AFEXNigeria engineering team during their Technology Workshop. We started with a question: what could the industry look like in the next five years, and how do we start building towards that today? We then talked about getting the most out of the infrastructure we already have. Before adding more web servers or upgrading the database, are we shipping quality code? Are our queries efficient? Are we doing unnecessary work on every request? Sometimes, fixing those things gives us more room to grow with what we already have. From there, we explored scalability bottlenecks: overloaded shared components, slow dependencies and tight coupling. We discussed how load balancing, caching, event-driven processing and sharding can help, and the trade-offs that come with each. One thing I kept coming back to is that our choices have to be driven by business requirements. Adding more servers won’t solve every problem. Sometimes, it just puts more pressure on the same database. And scaling isn’t something you set up once and forget about. As the business grows, we have to keep checking what’s working, where the bottlenecks are and what needs to change. The goal is to scale securely and cost-effectively, without making the user deal with our growing pains. Thanks to the @AFEXNigeria team for having me. I enjoyed the conversation! #AFEX #SystemDesign #Scalability

This is impressive
When Hilda Baci stood for days to put Nigeria on the world map, the entire South stood still, cheered her on, and carried her to victory on the wings of massive support. Today, our very own brother from the North, Abdulkadir Basari, is at MAAUN Kano, pushing through a grueling 120-hour non-stop sewing marathon to break a Guinness World Record—not just for fame, but to sew uniforms for less-privileged kids! Why is Arewa so silent? We must learn to celebrate and lift our own champions. Let’s make some noise for him! 🧵

This is amazing! Africa has incredible talent, and stories like this remind us of what’s possible when we give young people the right opportunities. Would love to connect and explore how we can help scale this even further. 🚀👏🏿
1) I am a proud father today. The young woman behind Lagos Life, the phenomenal game that pulled in over 2 million players in its first days, started her tech journey in our nondescript training room in Aba, Abia Her name is Shalom. This is her story & ours. This is a thread 1/25
