Ed Emmett, former Republican House member and Harris County Judge, is angry with what has happened to the Party in Texas. He encourages Republican voters not to vote a straight ticket, especially at the top. He says “After spending my adult life helping to build the Republican Party in Texas and Harris County, working alongside candidates, officeholders and armies of volunteers, I am disgusted by the self-inflicted damage being done to my party. This damage is not only hurting our candidates during this election cycle, but is undermining our next generation of voters.  This damage is being done by candidates for major offices who refuse to address the issues of importance to voters and don't even have the courage to engage in debate with opponents. This sort of candidate is an embarrassment.” acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aai…

BREAKING: George W. Bush's brother Neil just dropped a BOMB on MAGA by proudly announcing that he voted for James Talarico in the Texas Senate race. This just gave Republicans a flashing green light to vote blue... "I have never posted a political message on Facebook not wanting to offend friends whose views may be very different than mine. I'm breaking that tradition because I voted early today, and I voted for James Talarico for the United States Senate," Bush, the child of the late President George H.W. Bush wrote on Facebook. "My vote was motivated by two things: deep concern about Ken Paxton's record and genuine admiration for the character and principles I see in James Talarico," he continued. "I have been deeply troubled by Paxton's conduct as Texas Attorney General, particularly his decision to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election in other states in an effort to help Donald Trump remain in power. I believe that effort was an affront to our democratic institutions and the peaceful transfer of power. My concerns about his judgment and conduct are hardly mine alone. He was impeached by the Republican-controlled Texas House, although subsequently acquitted by the Texas Senate." "More broadly, I believe Donald Trump and those who have enabled him have done enormous damage to the Republican Party. I worry about a political culture in which loyalty to an individual takes precedence over loyalty to principle, and where those who hold power begin to believe they are no longer accountable." "But my vote today was about much more than opposition to Ken Paxton." "I've never met James Talarico, but I have been enormously impressed by the way he approaches complicated and controversial issues. He speaks with respect, seeks common ground, and seems genuinely interested in bringing people together rather than driving them apart. His faith appears to be a deeply rooted source of humility, compassion, and conviction rather than a political weapon." I see in him the qualities I admire most in public servants: integrity, civility, humility, and a willingness to listen to those with whom he disagrees. My impression is that he is a principled, pragmatic leader who understands that public office is a responsibility to serve, not an entitlement to power." "I have been a Republican for most of my life, and I still believe deeply in many traditional Republican principles. But character matters more than party affiliation. Our democracy depends on leaders who respect our institutions, tell the truth, accept accountability, and seek to unite rather than divide." "Today, I voted against a style of politics that I believe has damaged our country. More importantly, I voted for the kind of character and leadership I hope will help heal it," he concluded. Bravo, Mr. Bush! We commend you for speaking out boldly during these crucial midterm elections. Ken Paxton is a stone-cold crook who was impeached for bribery by his own party as state attorney general. He has zero interest in serving the people of Texas if he wins and will instead work to line his own pockets, accumulate personal power, and rubber-stamp Trump's destructive agenda. Meanwhile, James Talarico is a devout Christian who is committed to fighting for better healthcare, an end to pointless wars, livable wages, more housing construction to restore the American Dream, and banning Congressional stock trading. The Bush family still wields a great deal of influence in Texas, so this announcement is sure to cause political shockwaves. If you're a Republican who genuinely loves this country, it's time to cross the aisle and vote for James Talarico. Please ❤️ and share to thank Neil Bush!

He missed the school bus. So Brennan Walker, fourteen, walked the route from memory and got lost, and knocked on a door to ask for directions. A woman screamed. Her husband came down the stairs with a sh0tgun. Rochester Hills, Michigan. The morning of 12 April 2018. His phone was dead. He had never had to walk it before. He knocked. Through the glass he tried to explain he had missed the bus and needed to know which way the school was. The woman inside started shouting that he was trying to break in. Her husband, Jeffrey Zeigler, a retired firefighter, came downstairs with a sh0tgun. Brennan ran. Zeigler came out onto the porch and fired at the back of a running fourteen-year-old. The shot missed. It is on the house's own doorbell camera, which is why we are not relying on anybody's memory. Brennan kept running until he found someone to call his mother. Zeigler was charged and convicted of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and a firearm offence, and sentenced to four to ten years. Brennan's mother, Lisa Wright, said afterwards that she had taught him what to do if he got lost. Go to a house. Knock on a door. Ask an adult. Every parent teaches that. It is the single most basic instruction there is. He did it exactly right, and a man fired a shotgun at him for it. He was fourteen, and he was late for school. This is why in our book we confront the painful history too many people never hear. We must never forget these injustices Get yours: savvypurchase.samcart.com/pr…

Under normal circumstances I’d be in Clear Lake campaigning daily in my usual spot showing my support for @jamestalarico and @AdrianGarciaHTX Harris County Commissioner. I hate that I’m not there this year but cancer had other plans. I’m doing my best from my phone-please vote!❤️

THIS is what cuts to Texas public schools look like. Last night at our game we had no cheerleaders, no dance team and no band due to district cuts! Governor Greg Abbott has made school choice a major priority while public schools face difficult budget decisions. If you care about Texas public schools, pay attention this election. Do your research. Know the policies. And GO VOTE in the midterms. 🗳️ #TexasPublicSchools #TexasHSFB #PublicEducation #Vote

Luis Ochoa is 17. He's also a U.S. CITIZEN. This week, he was driving with another TEENAGE U.S. CITIZEN to submit paperwork to enlist in the MARINES when he was pulled over AND OUT OF HIS CAR by ICE🤬🤬 Thanktully, someone started recording. This is the video. It's horrific. The boys are yelled at, BEATEN, and - when they repeatedly tell the agents THEY ARE CITIZENS — they're ignored. According to Ochoa, one agent told him, "I don't give a damn. Your parents can't help you now." Both teenagers were detained for approximately eight hours before being released. They are minors. They are U.S. citizens. They were preparing to serve this country - yet their citizenship did not protect them from being beaten, pepper-sprayed, and detained by their own government. This is what the Nazis did.
