I visit women’s prisons all over the country and have to plan VERY carefully everything from my underwear to my perfume (which is often banned and I had to stop using fabric softener) to my jewelry (if at all) to the color clothes or type of fabric I can wear to my shoes. It’s all an exercise in futility for many families who cant afford the cost of keeping up with something that changes at every facility

An empty building burns down in France and there is non-stop front page news, global outrage, wall to wall coverage, etc. A school full of children are incinerated alive in Gaza and not even a single report about it. This is why the western decline will continue.

I always hated when I was made to stand in like to ride the Raptor or Gatekeeper at CP, just to be in pain after. would much rather ride Millenium all day.
There’s been an extreme amount of bad faith actors spreading propaganda + inciting fear about roller coasters/the clamshell lap bar in the wake of the tragedy on Goliath @ Six Flags Over Georgia, so please allow me to address some things… B&M roller coasters are among the safest amusement rides in human history. Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), the Swiss manufacturer behind world famous inverted coasters like Batman the Ride, hypers, dives, loopers + other coaster models has a near-flawless record on mechanical/design-related catastrophic failures. Via IAAPA/National Safety Council data, the chance of being seriously injured on a fixed-site U.S. amusement park ride is about 1 in 15.5 million rides taken. Fatalities are far rarer. Historical U.S. data shows only a handful of roller coaster-associated deaths per year (overwhelming majority linked to pre-existing medical conditions rather than mechanical failure or physical injury). Lifetime or per-ride odds of death on a coaster are estimated in the range of 1 in several hundreds of millions of rides. I had Grok narrow these odds even further down with an estimate of 1 in 2-2.9 billion of dying from mechanical or ride system failure on B&M coasters in specific. 1 IN 2.9 BILLION! That figure is now including the tragic and horrific death of Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem. So prior to the terrible events on Goliath @ Six Flags Over Georgia the past Monday, it had never even happened before. It quite literally might be one of the rarest ways in die in human history. My prayers are with the victim and his family, that is not a situation I would wish on my worst enemy, but please do not allow these scum political actors on X who have jumped on the news/tragedy for clicks/profit to incite fear in you and stop you from having fun at a park! God bless you all, as a friend of mine says, KEEP RIDIN’ COASTERS! 😉 - RCX

people not knowing that “run/hide/fight” is true active shooter protocol (from the FBI) and not a social media intern “wording something badly” is weird to me, but i guess not all of us have been through active shooter drills

Airstrikes on a gold mine on the Sudan-Egypt border on Saturday killed more than 200 workers, three survivors told Sudan Tribune. The Sudanese rights group Emergency Lawyers put the preliminary toll at 72 and blamed Egypt's air force. Survivors told AFP a jet struck five times at Jabal al-Uqaydat, and said thousands fled into the mountains while many may be trapped under rubble. Sudanese civil groups and parties accused Egypt, which has not commented.
🇸🇩 An airstrike on a gold mine on the Sudan-Egypt border killed at least 72 workers on Saturday, according to Emergency Lawyers, a Sudanese group documenting abuses in the war, which blamed Egypt's air force. Survivors told AFP a jet struck five times around 8 a.m. at Jabal al-Uqaydat, near the disputed Halayeb Triangle, and that many more may be trapped under rubble. The Sudan Doctors Network put the toll at 13 killed and 28 wounded. Egypt has not yet commented. It is the second deadly strike on the site this year after 23 workers were killed in June, when Egypt's military announced an operation against illegal mining. The country backs Sudan's army in its war with the genocidal UAE-sponsored militia RSF.

It cannot be overstated how every one of these tankers going down either in Europe or the Middle East is its own massive ecological disaster. Once you add them all up we’re talking about ecocide at that point. We’re killing everything with these wars. Not just us.
BREAKING: Iran announces a large oil tanker attempting to exit the Strait of Hormuz through the US-backed southern Omani corridor has exploded with a massive blast after hitting a naval mine, now fully engulfed in flames.

It's not just coincidence that these floods keep happening in Nepal. In August a glacier gave way on Langtang Lirung and more than 1,400 people died. Then came weeks of deadly rain. Today another river burst through in Gorkha, and 10 people are missing. This is what a warming planet looks like in the Himalayas. Nepal produces less than 0.1% of the world's emissions, yet its villages keep paying the price.

BEFORE YOU BOARD YOUR NEXT FLIGHT, READ THIS. 27 BRITISH PILOTS WERE TESTED. ALL 27 SHOWED EVIDENCE OF TOXIC EXPOSURE. A former commercial airline captain named John Hoyte @JohnHoytePilot contacted me recently. He flew passenger aircraft for nearly 30 years before developing serious neurological damage and losing his flying career. For almost two decades, he has been trying to force proper investigation of what pilots and cabin crew call contaminated cabin air. Then he sent me the evidence. Parliamentary records. House of Lords testimony. A 320-page report published by the British pilots union. University testing. BBC Panorama. Court cases. Coroner evidence. Litigation in several countries. This story has reached Parliament, scientists, courts, unions and broadcasters. Yet most passengers have probably never heard of it. Most commercial jets use something called bleed air. Compressed air is taken from the engines and fed into the aircraft cabin for passengers and crew to breathe. If engine seals leak, oil and other fluids can enter that air supply. That is where the controversy begins. In 2006, 27 BALPA pilots were tested by researchers at University College London after concerns about exposure to contaminated cabin air. John Hoyte was one of them. All 27 showed evidence consistent with toxic exposure and reduced cognitive performance. @BBCPanorama investigated the issue in its 2008 documentary Something in the Air. The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee heard evidence about contaminated cabin air in 2007 and 2008. In February 2007, around 40 passengers on an XL Airways flight reported illness following a cabin air incident. Litigation followed, including proceedings involving passengers who secured the right to pursue claims in the United States. A UK coroner raised concerns about contaminated cabin air following the death of pilot Richard Westgate in 2012. And the issue has never gone away. France has seen occupational disease claims involving aerotoxic syndrome. Litigation involving pilots, crew and passengers has continued internationally. US law firm Morgan & Morgan is now advertising for airline passengers and crew who say they were injured by toxic cabin air. John founded the Aerotoxic Association at the Houses of Parliament in 2007. The organisation says more than 2,500 people have contacted it believing they were affected. Then there is one fact I find particularly difficult to ignore. Almost every major commercial jet uses engine bleed air for cabin ventilation. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner does not. Boeing designed the 787 with an electrically powered air system that does not take cabin air from the engines. So the technology to avoid engine bleed air already exists. The UK Civil Aviation Authority continues to say that available research has not established a causal link between cabin air exposure and long-term illness. That disagreement is exactly why this deserves serious investigation. John has spent nearly 20 years collecting evidence. He has parliamentary material, medical evidence, technical reports, court documents and first-hand testimony. He is also prepared to speak openly with investigative journalists. He can introduce journalists to Samantha Sabatino, a passenger from the 2007 XL Airways incident whose experience entered the parliamentary record. So this post has one purpose. I WANT A SERIOUS INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST TO PICK THIS UP. Not a two-minute news item. A proper investigation. If you work in investigative journalism, aviation, medicine, toxicology or occupational health, John is willing to answer questions and provide the documents behind this story. Before millions of us board aircraft every year and breathe cabin air for hours at a time, we deserve a clear answer to a very simple question. WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE BREATHING? Sources: @AerotoxicAssoc (Aerotoxic Association) @BALPApilots (British Airline Pilots Association) @forthepeople (Morgan & Morgan) gcaqe org (Global Cabin Air Quality Executive) @BBCPanorama covered it in 2008 with a full documentary titled Something in the Air. @heraldtweets @WSJ @FlightGlobal @TheCanaryUK --- @TMZ @thevivafrei
