"I won't start learning any new languages until I'm fluent in the ones I'm currently learning"
Time flew by haha. I'm turning 29 in 3 months and I honestly still feel the same way although some things have changed. I still have a well-paying job, I still live alone, just not in Berlin anymore, I sadly do have debt now and I lost my father (he's still alive. it's difficult)
I've reflected a little on some things recently and realized how much I miss Russian and how it's still the most beautiful language in the world to me, and how sad it is that I've let my Russian become so incredibly rusty :( I've decided that it can't go on like this
I have read some really, REALLY good books this year that will stay with me for the rest of my life (looking at you, Ursula K. Le Guin), but also reeeeally bad ones. And definitely not enough non-fiction. I wonder what 2024 will be like!
I have somehow managed to read 33 books this past month, which means I only have 6 books left until I hit my 2023 goal. I'm currently on sick leave and then on vacation until the end of the year soooo
I finished System Collapse yesterday and god I wish I could read the whole Murderbot Diaries series for the first time again :( I reread it once a year and still love it to death, but nothing will ever get close to how I felt when I first read it 3 years ago
I've been doing the bare minimum on Duolingo since May or so but somehow I'm in the top 2% of users 😭 #Duolingo365
Lowkey want to learn Arabic (not that that's anything new) just to be able to sing along properly to Kalam Eineh and Mesytara
Went to Valencia, got to speak some Spanish, went to Rome, got to speak some Italian (and translate a lot of Latin!), now the only problem I have is that I'm visiting Thailand in 2 weeks and don't speak a single word of Thai 🥲

The last option was meant to say "all of them" of course 🤦♀️
Is there a language you'd like to see me tweet in more often? English is obviously my go to because most people in the langtwt community speak it, but maybe I should switch it up every now and then?
29%German
31%Russian
27%French + others (🇮🇹 etc.)
13%All the them!
62 votes • Final resultsI wanna do #40h7dlc this week since it's my last week of sick leave. Focus will be on Russian (lots of reading & listening), Japanese (everything) and French (everything) plus a bit of Italian. Gotta make the most of this week before I head back to work!
I'm not a polyglot and likely never will be – nor do I particularly aspire to be labeled as such – because all I really want is to be able to read whatever I want in the languages I like/find interesting. Speaking (or rather production in general) is secondary to me.
Me: I'm turning 26 soon and what have I achieved so far? Nothing!!
The reasonable part of my brain: You have a well-paying job, something that resembles a career, no debt, you live by yourself (no roommates! In Berlin!), have a good relationship with your family, a social life...
