I'm watching a new show on Netflix about the bombing of Pan Am 103. It didn't take long to realize it's basically a multi-episode effort to propagandize Americans into empathizing with Israel and support our interventionist policy in the Middle East, and associate Palestine and Arabs with terrorism. The propaganda is EVERYWHERE
BDE. Hopefully this will be a watershed moment for our community in the fight for trauma rehabilitation for combat veterans.
It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of Sergeant William Shakin z”l, a Yeshiva University student and IDF lone soldier.
After October 7, Will left his studies in America to valiantly serve in the Golani Brigade and defend Israel with extraordinary courage.
After his IDF service, having experienced the loss of close friends and fellow soldiers, Will returned to New York and struggled with PTSD.
In an expression of his commitment to others, even as he confronted his own pain, Will enrolled at Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work with the goal of helping fellow soldiers facing similar struggles.
The heroism and joy that characterized Will’s life are his enduring legacy, one that we will carry forward.
