Fe 26.4 is here! Grab 26.4.1, which fixes a borrow-checking regression found right after 26.4.0.
Inside: more building blocks for DeFi, better Solidity interop, a more capable compiler, and a first experimental step toward native programs.
Highlights 👇
CREATE2 addresses you can compute ahead of time.
create2 now embeds exactly the B.bin from fe build, so an address computed off-chain matches the deployed one. Previously they could differ.
New std::evm::clones deploys ERC-1167 minimal proxies and predicts their addresses.
One language for contracts and the tools around them?
Fe can now build native programs for x86-64 Linux and AArch64 macOS, with basic host I/O and process arguments.
Experimental: build fe from source with the cranelift feature. Release binaries get it in 26.5.
Under the hood: more precise borrow checking, better Solidity ABI compatibility and leaner bytecode. In our ERC-20 benchmark, name() drops from 3,861 to 857 gas.

Working next to existing Solidity contracts?
SolSlot reads and writes Solidity storage layouts directly: packed fields at a byte offset, leaving neighbours intact, plus dynamic bytes and strings.
SolMapping derives Solidity-compatible mapping slots, nested ones too.
Token transfers come with quirks. Your contract should decide how to handle them.
New non-reverting ERC-20 helpers tell you whether a call succeeded, reverted, returned failure or hit an address without code.
ERC-721 and ERC-1155 get non-reverting transfer helpers too.
Less to reinvent.
mul_div and mul_div_ceil compute a * b / d with a 512-bit intermediate product, rounding down or up. Handy for token amounts, fees and shares, as long as the result fits u256.
Also new: OpenZeppelin-compatible Merkle proofs for allowlists and airdrops.
Fe 26.3 is here! 🧵
First-class memory pointers, new array and ERC-20 helpers, important compiler fixes, and foundations for source-level debugging.
Here’s what’s new 👇
Compiler improvements include:
• Better trait inference and match diagnostics
• Support for functions and recv arms with >16 arguments
• Function deduplication to reduce compile time
• More useful errors where the compiler previously crashed
There’s more: integer square roots, new StorageBytes reads, wrapping arithmetic for Solidity integer types, and missing usize assignment operators.
