In 1954, then Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol asked the Israeli army’s Chief of Staff, Yitzhak Rabin, what would happen if Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip organized a large march, led by women and children, into Israel?
Rabin replied that that would not happen, but if it did, the Israeli army would shoot them and kill the first one hundred of them, so everyone the rest of the marchers would disperse.
In 2018, Israel carried out its promise. Tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians marched towards Israel. Israeli sniper lined up along the border and slaughtered them in the hundreds. 61 Palestinians were gunned down in a single day on May 15, 2018 (democracynow.org/2018/5/15/h…).
