We have been silently cooking for the past few months.
New products coming soon, including one that will be MASSIVE: a brand new form of thiamine.
Stay tuned, all the best.

Zinc Carnosine helps eradicate H. Pylori.
At 300 mg/day, it kills off the stubborn pathogen better than antibiotics alone.
◇ Anti-inflammatory
◇ Restores gut barrier (leaky gut)
◇ Immune supportive
It's often used in Japan clinically for this purpose.
Better GI is back in the US. It's not encapsulated, but you can fit your hand in the bottle. OK? objectivenutrients.com/produ…
Ja.

Low thiamine could be the reason for your bad response to thyroid hormones.
In thiamine deficiency, thyroid hormones can cause anxiety and an abnormally high heart rate. Correcting thiamine levels can resolve the issue.
“The conclusion appears justified that the thyroid hormone is less effective in promoting the metabolic activity of the organism in a state of thiamine deficiency.”
“Administration of small doses of desiccated thyroid to patients with a low basal metabolic rate often is attended by rapid action of the heart and complaints of nervousness and digestive disturbances. An increase in the basal metabolic rate could be accomplished in such patients with fewer complaints if adequate amounts of thiamine were given prior to the administration of desiccated thyroid...
... the administration of desiccated thyroid to depressed psychotic patients was associated with tachycardia, restlessness and apprehension of a degree which necessitated discontinuance of medication. Other patients, however, who previously had been given thiamine hydrochloride, tolerated the administration of desiccated thyroid well. They were less apprehensive and agitated, although the increase in the metabolic rate and in the cardiac rate were as great as in the previous group of patients.”
This was a thiamine restriction experiment ,and the repletion doses were quite small. Started at 0.3 mg/day, increased stepwise to 1.2 mg, then “very high”, up to 19 mg/day.
Thiamine supplementation diminished fatigue, maximized feelings of well-being, and restored appetite.
10 mg thiamin HCL daily:
—Appetite improved from 6.1 to 9.5
—Fatigue decreased from 4.9 to 1.2
—Well-being increased from 4.8 to 8.8
On a scale from:
0—I never have the condition or problem
to
10—I have the condition or problem all the time
The research was done in healthy older women at risk for marginal thiamin deficiency.
“Fatigue lessened significantly with thiamin supplementation. There was a trend in the supplemented group to less daytime sleep, watching television and listening passively to the radio, and spending more time on active isolated activities such as housecleaning and gardening.”
“General well-being improved significantly with thiamin supplementation. Eighty-eight percent of subjects supplemented with thiamin expressed feeling "brighter" and "cheerier" than before supplementation. It has been estimated that approximately 20% of the elderly suffer from varying degrees of depression, a disease with multiple causes (43); it appears that compromised thiamin status may be one of the factors.”
“Prior to treatment, 85% of subjects expressed no desire for meals, but ate because of habit. Improved thiamin status significantly increased appetite. Sixty-three percent of thiamin-supplemented subjects reported an increased appetite and enjoyment of meals. The increased appetite with supplementation was reflected in significantly higher energy intakes and weight gain. Previous research has found that major problems among the elderly include anorexia and weight loss (43,44). Although both of these conditions are considered multicausal, the majority of cases are of unknown etiology (45,46). Assessment of thiamin status for both conditions is indicated by the present results.”

The paradoxical reaction is a temporary worsening of symptoms when starting high-dose thiamine (B1), especially with potent forms like TTFD or benfotiamine.
It occurs as the body adjusts to increased thiamine-driven metabolic activity.
It can last 1 week to 1 month (varies by individual).

If you want a pre-designed protocol, @objectivenutri does have one. (Its solid.)

Just have to be careful with slowly increasing TTFD (Thiamax) in severe cases. Ive had to break open capsules into much smaller doses

Of all the nutrient deficiencies I've fixed, B1 is the one I felt most directly. By far.
Especially TTFD. It was like an extended release espresso that just kept going. Steady energy and a clear head all day, without the crash from spamming espressos.
Benfotiamine was great for my motility.
Both forms are in my list of top supplements I've felt a noticeable difference from.

Dr Donnino,
I didn't realise you were on X. I just want to thank you for your pioneering work on GI Beriberi.
I stumbled across your original paper 7 years ago whilst attempting to understand why thiamine was helping to resolve so many of my clients' GI disturbances. It led me down many rabbit holes, and eventually to very old Japanese and Chinese case reports on the topic. The people I was working with presented with a much milder phenotype.
It would appear that GI beriberi, in its early stages, can simply manifest as common functional GI disorders.
In fact, your work was the ultimate inspiration for this paper which I published just a few weeks ago in collaberation with a thiamine researcher in Russia, who is also interested in this topic.
Not sure if you saw it, but I think you may be interested.
A big thanks, once again!

If you are taking thiamine, be sure you are also getting enough minerals (Mg, K, Na), other B vitamins, CoQ10, glycine, copper, selenium and molybdenum. Thiamine is remarkable, and is in general a fairly low risk supplement due to its water solubility... but in my experience most people do not really need to consistently supplement with high doses of thiamine (unless a severe neurological issue is present) for longer than a few months-a year, and unless you're careful it can deplete/upset the balance of other cofactors.

Severely autistic, non-verbal 4yo child is given high-dose folate (leucovorin)
- Gains speech in the first week and learns to walk
- Can speak 100 words after 1 year, maintains eye contact and physically active
- When he misses a dose, he relapses
This treatment is insane
Testimonial from a follower
Up to 76% of children with autism may actually have an autoimmune disorder which blocks uptake of folate into the brain, leading to a cerebral deficiency
Autistic children were 19 times more likely to test positive for folate receptor alpha antibodies, which bind with and block folate receptors at the blood-brain-barrier
These children had normal blood results, but very low levels in cerebrospinal fluid
Treatment with a specialized folate supplement, calcium folinate/folinic acid (aka Leucovorin), led to improvement in ~65% of autistic children studied
Standard testing is useless because blood levels of folate show up as normal, but the brain is deficient
Ordinary folate supplements (folic acid, methylfolate) are ineffective because their transport system is blocked
Calcium folinate, on the other hand, works by penetrating the brain via alternative transporters (reduced folate carriers) to effectively restore folate levels
However it must be taken in extremely high doses to achieve this effect. Leading physicians are using approx. 2mg/kg body weight.

Vitamin B1 reverses insulin resistance in clinical trial.
300 mg of B1 per day:
• LOWERED fasting blood sugar
• LOWERED fasting insulin
• IMPROVED glucose metabolism
B1 is the nutrient most essential for proper glucose metabolism, which is the primary determinant of our health.
Ancient studies show thiamine (vitamin B1) treating diabetes.
1948 - 30-50 mg of thiamine intramuscularly eliminated glucose excretion in urine (a primary sign of diabetes).
48% of cases achieved complete control within 10 days of treatment.
B1 is needed to fully metabolize glucose into energy, often the limiting factor.
Pork is by far the best source.

already made a big improvement with just Tuinone (adding it to carrot salad too)
wouldn't credit all of it to this compound, but it is speeding the process up
finally got the gutmax, which will be deployed right away
on my way back to a perfect gut microbiome
experimented too hard and made my gut less perfect than it used to be
so, the only natural reaction is
to experiment more in the direction of perfect gut health
finally got my tuinone (x2) as well as Gutmax by @objectivenutri coming in tomorrow
will focus on this for the coming months while continuing my baseline stack
gutmaxing = performancemaxing
Yes.

Don't you need to eat obscene amounts of pork to get the recommended amount of thiamine anyways? Like, multiple kilograms per day.

Of note, seed oils up regulate an enzyme that blocks the key thiamine-dependent entry enzyme into mitochondrial oxphos. Also mess with fatty acid oxidation pathways. Effectively closing oxphos - where 90% of atp production occurs.
