Moral hazards are deadly. Govt is *usually* the PROBLEM not the SOLUTION. Politics are defined by mutually-exclusive religious beliefs & worldviews.

The period after Trump's election in 2016 was, without a doubt, the most magical time in politics I have ever experienced. There was so much excitement and anticipation, the feeling that finally someone was going to go scorched earth on the establishment, the deep state, the media, and all the rot that was eating away at Western civilization. Instead, they went scorched earth on Trump. They just kept coming at him with an endless barrage of lawfare, lies, and leaks. Russiagate, Ukrainegate, Covid, impeachments, indictments, raids, arrests, and even an assassination attempt he narrowly survived. It never stopped. Despite it all, he pulled off the greatest comeback in history. And then, for the past two years, he has been blocked and sabotaged all over again, this time less by Democrats than by Republicans. So here we are, almost ten years later, with one last chance. Maybe it was always meant to come down to this. There will never be another Donald Trump in my lifetime, and probably not for generations after that. He has two years left to do what so many of us dreamed of back in 2016. Make them count. Burn it all down.

My coworker's son, Ryo, was nine when he got sick. Leukemia. Eight months in a hospital room in Tokyo, behind a glass door. No outside. No school. Some months, not even his friends. He had one picture book. "The 50 States." He read it until the pages fell out. He told his mom, "When I get better, I want to see America." She didn't know if he would get better. So in January, she wrote one sentence in English and posted it online. "My son has never been to America and can't leave his hospital room. If you have time, could you send him a postcard from your state?" She hoped for ten. By April, there were 3,812. The nurses wiped every single one with alcohol before it went into his room. All 3,812. They said it was the best job they ever had. His mom taped a giant map of America to the wall and pinned each card to its state. Here's some of what America sent. Texas sent a postcard so big it didn't fit in the mailbox. Alaska sent a photo of a moose standing in someone's driveway. "This is my neighbor." Iowa sent a jar of dirt. Customs took it. The note made it: "Best dirt in the world. Ask anybody." Wisconsin sent cheese. Customs took it. The note made it: "We tried." Florida sent an orange. Customs took that too. "Sorry about the orange. Get well, buddy." Ryo's mom says somewhere in Japan, there's a customs officer who had the most American month of his life. New York sent a subway map. "If you ever get lost, yell. Somebody will help." Louisiana sent beads. Purple, green, and gold. Ryo wore them to chemo. Montana sent a photo of the sky. Just sky. "The whole state is the view." Minnesota sent one mitten. Just one. "The other one is waiting for you here. Come get it when you're better." Ryo slept holding that mitten for four months. Then there was a letter from Ohio. Shaky handwriting. "When I was nine, I spent a year in the hospital with polio. Strangers wrote to me. People I never met. I still have every letter. I'm 81 now. I've been waiting a long time to pass it on." That's the one his mom couldn't read out loud. She had to stop three times. By March, 49 states were on the wall. One was missing. Delaware. Every morning, Ryo asked, "Did Delaware come?" It came in April. Twenty-six letters at once, from a whole fourth-grade class. The first one said: "Sorry we're late. We're a small state." Ryo laughed so hard a nurse ran in to check on him. In May, he went home. He's ten now. Healthy. Back in school. The map is on his bedroom wall. He has one plan. He has saved 2,100 yen. About fourteen dollars. He's going to Minnesota to get the other mitten. America, you argue about everything. Pizza. Football. What to call soda. But when one sick little boy in Tokyo asked to see you, all fifty of you showed up. Each in your own ridiculous, beautiful way. Thank you for showing him America. He's coming for that mitten.

RE: Morning After Rant My threads are flooded with helpless doomers. To them I say THIS: So what are YOU, personally, going to do about it other than whine and bitch like a frustrated 8th Grade girl who didn't make the cheerleading squad? How are YOU organizing like-minded people in your community? What are YOU doing to get your preferred candidates elected in 2028? This is my new, standard question for doomers. A lot of us have put ourselves out their personally at substantial risk, me included, taking practical action to make a difference. I now have zero tolerance for anyone who won't share that risk. This is the new me. I'm done tolerating doomers who just want to complain and can't be bothered to actually do the work. Get off the floor people and start fighting. The 2028 election starts TODAY. Organize. Fight. Donate. Put your ACTIONS where your doomsaying mouth is. Fight fight fight. /rant over

Abolish the filibuster, pass the SAVE Act. End blue slips. Confirm judges. Go into recess, Trump makes appointments. You sabotaged the country. You are a demon inside a human skin suit.

The Republican congress did nothing. Achieved nothing. Took the mandate they were given and did precisely zero with it. Feckless losers who are relieved to no longer be in the majority. The only thing Republicans do with power is bide their time until they can relinquish it.

There is a massive lesson here tonight, one that the republican party REFUSES to learn. When you HAVE power... USE IT. Don't apologize for using it. Don't use it sparingly. ENACT YOUR AGENDA as quickly and completely as you can. Republicans get elected and sit on their hands.

Senate GOP leadership needs to resign tomorrow morning. Worthless failures.
Democrats now control judicial nominees and Cabinet officials. Republicans could have eliminated blue slips and got people through. Senate Leadership is as much as fault as Trump is for tonight.

The media instinctively understands that election delays are good for the communists. That’s why they run this propaganda. There is NOTHING usual about taking days to count ballots. Countries all over the world count them and have the results the same day. Democrats cheat in elections.
Control of the House and Senate may not be immediately clear on election night, and some of the 2026 midterm election calls will take longer than others. But that's not unusual or an indication of fraud, as some candidates may claim. cbsn.ws/3WpfJP1

This is actually such a perfect description of the left/right dynamic, but I'm not sure the OP actually understands why. What do they tell you in the emergency instructions on a flight? Put on your mask FIRST, then help your kids. You must be "selfish" in order to be of service to others. While leftist worldview may appear noble, it's actually very impractical and counterproductive in the real world. The right wing worldview is what builds, maintains, and rescues societies, though on a superficial level it appears to be selfish and icky. This is how you see very good-natured, well-intentioned people fall into highly destructive socialist dogma; its veneer of virtue and selflessness is irresistible. They're not bad people (though the commie street animals are), they just have never built anything, nor rescued anything, nor dealt with an emergency, etc...so they don't understand how things actually work. In BLS/First Responder training they'll test you with a hypothetical question: Let's say you're a firefighter. You're out mowing the lawn in front of the station, and you witness a massive car wreck. What's the first thing you do? Most people reasonably say "run over and extract the driver" or "call for the ambulance and grab a fire extinguisher", and they fail. The correct answer is: turn off the lawnmower. If you don't slow down and do that first, it'll roll off into the street and cause even more destruction. The first principle of emergency response is: ensure the scene is safe. There's no point in initiating a "rescue" if it's not safe, and you, yourself, need to be rescued. While the average person might be outraged because a first responder is not darting over to the patient with enough haste, it's because they do not understand how things can break bad. There's a checklist of procedures that has been developed over centuries, written in blood, that informs how they do things, and in what sequence. And what may appear "selfish" is actually just...responsible and pragmatic.

🚨 Late night ruling from the Ninth Circuit after SCOTUS declined to issue an injunction pending appeal. California and Washington state are now on official notice. The 2-1 panel ruled that the thousands of non-citizen ballots CAN be sequestered. Election officials can also face prosecution for counting the noncitizen ballots, per the ruling.
BREAKING: In a 2-1 vote, the Ninth Circuit lifted restrictions on the Trump administration's efforts to have states set aside ballots from suspected noncitizens, allowing it to resume such requests, warn election officials of prosecution, and pursue related investigative steps.
