Wildland fire science starts with asking the right questions. 🔥🔬
The Joint Fire Science Program is now accepting applications for wildland fire research funding, with up to $9 million available nationwide to support research, student innovation, and science delivery that helps address today’s wildland fire challenges.
Funding opportunities are available for:
• Primary research: changing wildfire regimes and smoke impacts from prescribed fire and wildfire
• Graduate student projects: Fire Leaders and Managers, Emerging Scientists
• Regional Fire Science Exchanges
JFSP is an interagency partnership between the Department of the Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture that helps connect science with real-world fire management.
Applications are due September 17, 2026.
