I've put a few more bits up on Ebay including complete sets of Garbage Pail Kids stickers, take a look here ebay.co.uk/usr/nyimnyarr

Unnamed Electrobots game (WIP) for Acorn Electron 🚫AI. Created more varied tiles and tile types. Next up: stats, enemies, moving platforms?
Success! Corrected enemy ship movement within the scanner and repositioned the small box to the centre of the scanner, items within this will appear in the main view. Next track and store objects in the world, hook up the controller so we can move about space and then hopefully get something displayed on the play field.

When reverse engineering was still fun... 🥹

Coin collection is a surprisingly hard problem. Debug view shows a thin blue line as an indication of raster time. One of four hidden back buffers is also shown. I have been optimising quite a bit but I still think I may need to shrink the viewport a little to maintain 25fps

I have been tweaking the jump (including 'coyote time') and fall animation until it felt just right. It is (un)expectedly difficult to erase a collected coin on all 4 preshifted back buffers, at the right location and at the right time... not perfect yet!
Just put a few more items on Ebay, 3 D&D sets, Trolls in the Pantry and Squelch by Games Workshop. If you are interested you can check them out here ebay.co.uk/usr/nyimnyarr

Did you play any of Acornsoft's games back in the 80s? Which one was your favourite?

Here's the first release of the Xbox 360 Peer Pressure softmod. Blog post will be out in a few weeks with all the technical details. Barring any critical bugs I'll be "hibernating" for the next 2 months to recoup my sanity from working on this project github.com/grimdoomer/Xbox36…

Someone mentioned a certain Italian plumber and this gave me the idea for the current game mechanic instead of an "endless runner" game. Having the screen scrolling continuously was easier to get right! Showing the advanced back buffers (4!) technique for your viewing pleasure 😎

OK, back to the bottom of the screen and giving the little robot a little more wiggle room (16 char rows instead of 12). However, this version takes more time and space. I also need to check if this is stable on a real Electron. Did I say I thrive on self-imposed constraints? 😂

Tinkering with my electrobot-themed prototype. Currently designed as an "endless runner" kind of game. The usual doubts: is limited screen space enough? Will it be FUN? Should it be a "free moving" type of game instead? What about platforms, puzzles, ladders, doors, enemies?
I just listed a bunch of old PC cards and ram on Ebay, mostly early 2000's, a few late 90's. If you're interested go check them out here. ebay.co.uk/usr/nyimnyarr
I have a few more bits still to add, motherboards, CPU's, a lot containing modems, network cards, sound cards and other random parts which will be live in the next day or so.

Now feeding an actual level "design" (made in Tiled) into the game instead of a looping image...
