👵 Seniors’ housing has also become increasingly concentrated in the hands of financialized investors. As of 2020, financialized investors controlled 33% of Canada’s seniors’ housing units, including: • 🏘️ 42% of retirement units • 🏥 22% of long-term care beds When seniors’ housing is treated primarily as an investment, the need to generate financial returns can come into conflict with affordability, stability, quality of care, and residents’ well-being. 👉 Seniors deserve safe and stable homes that prioritize their needs—not investor profits. 🔗 Read our latest blog to learn more: buff.ly/yNIvq8w #FairRentOntario #FinancializationOfHousing #SeniorsHousing #LongTermCare #HousingStability #AffordableHousing @workersac @Campaign2000 @FeedOntario @UnityHealthTO @WNHHNetwork @ISAC_Ontario @OntarioACORN @ACORNCanada @TenantsUnionTO @ricardo_tranjan @ccpa _ @djnontario @TorontoTenants @nodemovictions @nyhfb

📍 The erosion of affordable housing is not affecting every community equally. A 2026 study found concentrated levels of tenant displacement in the lower-income and heavily racialized communities of Scarborough, North York, and Etobicoke. 👉 These findings demonstrate how the financialization of housing can deepen existing inequalities. When affordable rental homes are lost, lower-income, racialized, and immigrant tenants face a greater risk of being pushed out of their communities. 🔗 Read our latest blog to learn more about who is most affected by financialization and tenant displacement: buff.ly/yNIvq8w #FairRentOntario #FinancializationOfHousing #TenantDisplacement #HousingEquity #AffordableHousing #HousingStability @workersac @Campaign2000 @FeedOntario @UnityHealthTO @WNHHNetwork @ISAC_Ontario @OntarioACORN @ACORNCanada @TenantsUnionTO @ricardo_tranjan @ccpa _ @djnontario @TorontoTenants @nodemovictions @nyhfb

📈 Rents have been rising far faster than incomes for years, making it harder for low and moderate-income households to stay in the communities they call home. 👉 One major driver? The financialization of housing, where homes are increasingly treated as investment assets rather than places to live. Combined with vacancy decontrol, this trend is accelerating displacement and putting affordable housing further out of reach for many renters. 📢 Our latest blog explores how these forces are reshaping Ontario’s rental market and pushing tenants out of long-serving communities. 🔗 Read more: buff.ly/yNIvq8w #FRO #NewBlogPost #FinancializationOfHousing #VacancyDecontrol #HousingStability #AffordableHousing @WorkersAC @Campaign2000 @FeedOntario @UnityHealthTO @WNHHNetwork @ISAC_Ontario @OntarioACORN @ACORNCanada @TenantsUnionTO @ricardo_tranjan @ccpa @djnontario @TorontoTenants @nodemovictions @nyhfb
