Our new report with @DerbyUni explores the barriers to expanding healthcare degree apprenticeships, including financial disincentives, capacity + support issues, as well as coordination challenges between employers and educators.
@poppytea is one of the co-authors 👇

ALT A picture of Dr Denise Baker and a quote from her reading: “Apprentices we interviewed were hugely enthusiastic about apprenticeships, but still recognise that there are more improvements to be made. Persistent issues of capacity and resource must be addressed to ensure apprenticeship programmes can be delivered sustainably, and the perception that apprenticeships are somehow less valued needs to be tackled.” Dr. Denise Baker, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the College of Health, Psychology, and Social Care, University of Derby

We all never want to find ourselves in danger, but if you do & are unable to speak, help is still available
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 999 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 📞
🚨Dial 999 & press 55
This lets the police know that your call is genuine & you need urgent help but cannot speak
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟵𝟵𝟵 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 📞
Did you know that by pressing 55 after calling 999 it will alert a police call handler that you are in need of urgent help but that you are unable to talk? 💭
Dialling 55 lets the call handler know your call is genuine. Even if you cannot speak, listen carefully to any questions or instructions from the call handler who can assess your call and arrange help.
If you don’t respond or press 55, your call could be ended 🚨
This is important information which could help save someone’s life.

Such an integral requirement . Appreciate NIGR’s systemic approach to influence health inequalities
Today we've launched a new requirement that all applicants must demonstrate how their research will address existing inequalities in health and social care as a condition of funding. Applicants will now be required to show how inclusion is being built into all stages of the research lifecycle. nihr.ac.uk/news/inclusion-no…

What a great three days of collaboration and sharing of innovation in Ghent. I presented the outcomes from my project and got AI inspired, but the most important part was the colleagues and connections made! @DerbyUni @UOD_SONM @FNightingaleF #ripple-effect

‘Nurses are told time and time again that you can’t do fewer hours as a band 6 or 7, or there isn’t enough service provision. It’s a penalty for having children…for being a carer’
Why can flexible working mean dropping a pay band?

Cavell was a British First World War nurse who helped Allied soldiers escape German-occupied Belgium. After she was discovered and killed in 1915, her funeral was held at the Abbey.
