Aitana Bonmati: "Sometimes I think that this world is s***. So many people have to leave their homes without wanting to because of war, and they arrive in places like Spain and Italy with no money, no friends and without speaking the language. Some have lost a wife, a kid or a husband. Honestly, it breaks my heart. We know about Ukraine here in Europe because it’s close to us, but there are so many people struggling in all corners of the world. Women in Afghanistan cannot go to university or even leave their home alone, because they are women. How crazy is that? Tragedies like this make me realise how privileged I am. Last year I began working with the UN Refugee Agency in Spain, ACNUR. They arrange football training in Barcelona for female refugees to give them a support network here and help them integrate. That’s pretty cool, no? I always ask my teammates for spare boots and clothes that they can have. It’s not going to fix the world, but I already think it has improved quite a few lives. For me, that means a lot."

Writing is the process by which you realize that you do not understand what you are talking about. Importantly, writing is also the process by which you figure it out.

Disturbingly politically blind. Brexiteer Steve Baker on @BBCRadio4 just said: “What an extraordinary opportunity for Northern Ireland: dual access to both markets.” You mean the “extraordinary opportunity” that was available to the ENTIRE UK before Brexit. That opportunity?

Apprenticeships are not a fall-back position if you don't get the A-Level results you want. They're a serious alternative to university education. If your household is waiting on A-Level results today, then I wish you all good luck. #ALevelResultsDay

This photo is just as relevant now as it was at the start of the pandemic. We all have the power to break the chain of transmission. Please be sensible this Christmas.

Reading the replies to this tweet shows the damage done by bad journalism over the past days. 🧵 1) we do not call ourselves 'expats', that is a loaded term designed to divide us from EU citizens in the UK. We refer to ourselves as British nationals living in the EU/EEA/CH...
Is the EU to blame for the problems facing British expats living in Europe? They say they're being denied healthcare, bank accounts and jobs despite them being guaranteed in the Withdrawal Agreement. Is it Brexit red tape, or is the EU is being difficult? #JeremyVine

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is the most popular personality test in the world. It’s a favorite among Fortune 100 companies and government agencies. It is a thriving multimillion dollar industry. And as any psychologist will tell you, it’s bullshit. areomagazine.com/2021/03/09/…

Imagine a book where each chapter describes a different research article that every teacher should know about and its implications for classroom practice. It'd almost be too easy to learn what every teacher should know about learning! amazon.com/How-Learning-Happ…

If you want to improve safeguarding and social care training, stop letting people with zero knowledge or qualifications in neuroscience and neuropsychology teach anything about the brain to professionals. The stuff I see terrifies me - some of it is hilariously wrong.
