JUST IN: Microsoft executive calls AI training the "largest theft of labor in human history."
NAOMI KLIEIN to SAM ALTMAN:
"...you ingested the entire written output of human civilization without consent, without compensation and without credit to build a system whose primary commercial application is eliminating the jobs of the people whose work you consumed.
You are not 'liberating human creativity' -- you are strip-mining it and selling it back at a markup while calling the theft 'training data'."

It’s actually just a word that means something is a janky pile of incoherent crap

After 5 years of passionate development from a tiny team, Twisted Tower is officially out now. store.steampowered.com/app/1…
The current state of AI companies; they're aware they can't create game assets as good as ours so they just take them and then claim they were generated using their slop machines. A new low, every single day.
@higgsfield_ai - any comment?

I said this about AI well over a year ago. Using it to diagnose and fire people with medical conditions so they lose their insurance AND their income is somehow even more heartless and evil than I’d predicted.
Meta used AI to target workers with medical conditions for layoffs, according to a new lawsuit.
Twenty-six former Meta employees are suing, accusing the company of using AI that disproportionately targeted people with disabilities or workers who took medical leave in selecting people for mass layoffs.

The steam AI label works both ways, if gen AI was truly quality defining & beloved by gamers then the AI label would help sales. The fact people are vocally against gen AI content in games is the exact reason the label should exist. It's never a bad thing to inform customers.

Like I said. Brain dead. They spent all that time and money building a system and convincing devs to use this system, encouraging new devs to learn this system, and now they're back at square one trying to do it all over again but now with genAI trash code.
Actual idiocy.
Hey Everyone. Our aim is to ship Early Access for UE6 by the end of 2027 and Blueprints will be supported in Early Access and the initial UE6 releases, but deprecated in the future.
Deprecation will mean a feature continues to be available without improvements, then is eventually removed. This timeline will be clearly communicated along with ways to migrate projects to Verse.
We recognize the value that Blueprints brought to UE4 and 5, but we strongly believe that Verse will become a more powerful and capable way to create game logic. We’ve already seen both experienced and new programmers create amazing things with Verse that would be challenging to do with Blueprints.
More details and conversations from us around this to come as UE6 Early Access approaches.

1/4 The over reliance of thieving GenAi is so deeply unnecessary. The iterations shown could be a few hours of work. Rendering, if starting from blender, is fast too.
All this work could EASILY be done without relying on models that steal from artists.

But it actually adds more work rather than cuts processes, so I honestly have no idea how it serves the pipeline time-wise (which = saving money & burnout rate).
Having to carefully overpaint artifacts and potentially copyrighted parts adds to stress and burnout, too.
