Let’s set the record straight: @lcfr_hax was the first to discover php2shell and develop a working exploit. See his August 5 tweet: xitter.cf/lcfr_hax/status/208503… His work convinced the PHP Foundation to invest in fixing this entire bug class. He then worked around the clock to review, test, and retest the patches.

Very excited to share details on the bugs used in our full chain Chrome exploit! We used three bugs (V8 corruption, V8 sandbox escape, and renderer sandbox escape via Crashpad). The third bug is my favorite!

The write-up from @moyix is finally out! It covers how we discovered three Chrome vulnerabilities: a V8 memory corruption bug and two sandbox escapes (one from V8 and another from the renderer), and chained them together into a full Chrome exploit that earned a $250K bounty! xbow.com/labs/research/zero-…

Really proud to have worked on this, and of the team @oegerikus / @nicowaisman built. Sometimes the idea sounds crazy, but with the right people, you can make it real.
Two years ago, I said we were going to build the world’s best hacker. Many laughed. Then we did it. In January 2025, I told everyone at @XBOW’s annual kick-off that we needed to top the global HackerOne leaderboard before BlackHat, the main security event of the year. The whole company groaned: "Oh no, here goes the mad professor again…” But in all seriousness, I meant it. I wanted to prove XBOW’s ability, and I believed our AI could become better than any human hacker. Competing against real white-hat hackers on HackerOne was the only true benchmark because you only score once a company confirms your bug is real. Every day, our team of experts would select the targets and point XBOW in their direction. We’d all rush in the next morning to see what it had found overnight. XBOW kept finding bugs. Palo Alto Networks, Wells Fargo, Netflix, Sony, Uber, Toyota… these weren’t Mickey Mouse systems. By June, XBOW was the #1 hacker in the United States. It was the first time a machine had ever topped the leaderboard. By August, it was the #1 hacker in the world, and we made global headlines. XBOW found 54 critical bugs over 90 days. Our hypothesis that AI could hack as well as humans (or even better) had been proven beyond doubt. So we stepped off the leaderboard and put XBOW to work. Today, XBOW extends security teams at some of the world's most important businesses. Driving better defense with better offense.

Huge congrats to the Native team incredible result. really speaks to the value of strong harnesses and solid methodology. even as more cyber-capable models ship, you're still dealing with sampling variance and reward optimization. raw capability helps, but reliable end-to-end outcomes take a lot more.
This just in: XBOW's Native Team has claimed the first Chrome Full Chain Exploit Bonus this year. Only four will be awarded in 2026. ⚡️

A lot of people have been wondering about Mythos, Glasswing, and the vulns we / our partners are fixing. Today, I’m excited for us to start sharing more. (For context, I lead Glasswing @AnthropicAI.) Two independent evaluations this week—from XBOW and the UK AISI—confirm what we've been seeing internally: Claude Mythos Preview is a step change in autonomous cybersecurity capabilities. We need to start preparing fast for a world of models with this level of capabilities. The UK AI Security Institute tested the model we shipped at the launch of Project Glasswing and found Mythos Preview is the first model to solve both of their end-to-end cyber ranges, including one (Cooling Tower) which no model had ever cleared. But attackers (and defenders) have sophistication & cost constraints – Mythos is also the only model that clears every one of their tasks estimated over 8 hours under their deliberately low 2.5M-token cap. XBOW tested it on their offensive security benchmarks, finding "token-for-token, unprecedented precision." It's the only model to succeed at subtle V8 sandbox work. Other Glasswing partners shared similar stories. In a few weeks of testing, Mythos Preview has helped them find many thousands of (estimated) high + critical severity vulnerabilities, sometimes double what they'd normally find in a year. I don't share this to boost Mythos. In fact, this is not about Mythos. It’s about preparing for the coming world of models being better, faster, cheaper, and more creative than some of the best human experts at dual use capabilities. Clearly, we need them supporting defenders as widely as can be done safely – and especially the least resourced ones. Within a year, Mythos will probably look quite dumb (relative to other new models). And others may release openly available or unguardrailed models of Mythos-level capabilities. We started Project Glasswing because capabilities like Mythos Preview's won't stay rare, or stay in careful hands. We are bringing it to defenders as fast as we responsibly can, while working to figure out, for example, the right safeguards and patching & disclosure processes. Also, to be clear, compute has never been a limiter in our rollout. Expect a fuller update on our Glasswing work in the coming days. Our cyber range results illustrate this step-up. Since our first Mythos evaluation, we received access to a newer Mythos Preview checkpoint. On a 32-step corporate network attack we estimate takes a human expert ~20 hours, this checkpoint completes the full attack in 6 /10 attempts.

A new chapter for @Xbow. We're concluding our primary mission on Hacker1, so it will no longer be competing on the leaderboard. The platform was a critical step in our journey: an invaluable, large scale, live-fire range for developing and improving XBOW. xbow.com/blog/xbow-on-hacker…

What if two AI models could collaborate without knowing it? Our Head of AI, Albert Ziegler developed "model alloys" - alternating between different LLMs in a single conversation. Sonnet handles some steps, Gemini others, but neither knows about the switch. Result: 55% solve rate vs 40% with single models. xbow.com/blog/alloy-agents/
