In fact she's credited with the co-invention (with her husband John Mauchly) of the Subroutine on Wikipedia.

Like most people, two weeks ago, I thought that Gerry Adams probably was in the IRA, but didn't think it made much difference, anyway.

Sad to see, likely to be very damaging to the US's scientific preeminence. While scientists will feel it immediately, this sort of thing can take years to bleed through to broader scientific/economic impacts. And decades to reverse.

Rewatching this RTE short where i'm explaining my grandmother Kay McNulty's contributions to computer science.
The fact is, these women were inventing programming at a time when "making the computer work" was considered clerical/secretarial labor.
