Narcissists don’t always lack self-awareness.
Many know their patterns. They just decided the benefits outweigh the damage they cause.
CPTSD makes you excellent at reading the room and terrible at trusting that the room is actually safe.
An avoidant will call it “losing feelings” when what actually happened is the relationship started requiring emotional presence.
The moment you stop reacting, a narcissist will invent a new reason why you are the one who changed.
They need the conflict more than they need the relationship.
A narcissist can describe exactly how they hurt you and still act like you’re the problem for noticing.
Awareness without accountability is just better manipulation.

Anxiety questions every interaction.
Depression removes the desire for more.
Loneliness turns the distance

10 WAYS TO MAKE A NARCISSIST REALIZE THEY CAN NO LONGER CONTROL YOU
STOP OVEREXPLAINING YOURSELF.
SET FIRM BOUNDARIES.
STOP SEEKING THEIR APPROVAL.
DON’T REACT TO EVERY PROVOCATION.
PROTECT YOUR PRIVATE LIFE.
HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.
STOP ACCEPTING EMPTY APOLOGIES.
REFUSE TO PLAY THEIR GAMES.
LIMIT THEIR ACCESS TO YOU.
BE WILLING TO WALK AWAY.
NARCISSISTS MAKE ASKING THEM FOR ANYTHING SO EXHAUSTING THAT YOU EVENTUALLY STOP ASKING. EVERY NEED BECOMES AN ARGUMENT, EVERY REQUEST COMES WITH DRAMA, UNTIL YOU LEARN TO DEPEND ON NOBODY BUT YOURSELF.
A narcissist’s cycle:
Love-bomb you, promise you forever, control you, break you, play victim, call you crazy, then tell everyone they did everything they could.
CPTSD is struggling silently, saying “I’m fine” when you’re falling apart, and wishing someone would notice without you having to ask.
You learn to do everything alone because depending on people has hurt you before. But even the strongest part of you gets tired of carrying everything alone.
Some daughters are still trying to earn the love of a mother who only knows how to make them feel guilty for needing it.
Someone asked me this the other day and it’s a question I get a lot.
Do narcissists actually know they’re difficult and just not care, or do they genuinely not see it? In my experience, a lot of them can switch depending on who’s in the room, then immediately play the victim when they’re called out. That level of adjustment makes it hard to believe they have zero awareness — more often it looks like they see enough and simply don’t care, because the behavior still works for them.
Curious how others who’ve dealt with this up close would answer it.
