A new study showed that AI referral traffic to ecommerce sites has grown by 3900% over the last 18 months.
In the process it also exposed some unique cheat codes SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) has been using to get customers traffic + sales from ChatGPT and Google in 2025.
Here is how you can apply the lessons to your business without hiring expensive outside help.
Also, check out the ecommerce SEO Stuff case study I'll link to in the replies.
But before we get fully into it...
If you want some "unconfirmed" cheat codes for showing up in ChatGPT and Perplexity, just RT this + follow me + reply with "SEO Stuff Cheat Codes" and I'll DM them to you.

Alright...
The new Semrush x Statista 2025 E-Commerce Report confirmed what we have been tracking across SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) for months.
I'll link to the full report below, but AI-driven search traffic is now measurable, growing at an exponential rate and completely redefining how visibility works across the internet.
Let’s start with the data, because the numbers tell the story.
1. Between January 2024 and June 2025, AI referral traffic to ecommerce sites grew from about 100,000 monthly visits to more than 4 million.
That is a 3900% increase, or a 35x lift in 18 months.
That said, organic search still drives over 1.2 billion monthly visits, which is roughly 300x more than AI traffic.
What that means is simple.
AI visibility is not replacing traditional SEO yet, it is compounding on top of it.
If you are not visible in Google’s organic layer, you are not even in the dataset that AI systems learn from.
But once you are, that same SEO foundation can turn into citations, summaries, and recommendations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and Bing.
2. The report segmented AI traffic by assistant and retailer type.
The differences are significant and create specific opportunities for optimization.
Pure-Play Ecommerce (Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Temu)
ChatGPT was the clear growth engine.
Amazon grew 466%.
eBay grew 812%.
Etsy grew 606%.
Temu grew 1256%.
Copilot grew 581% on eBay and 224% on Etsy.
Perplexity showed mixed results, including a 55% decline for eBay.
This shows that ChatGPT currently drives the majority of AI-layer traffic for online-only retailers, but Microsoft’s Copilot is gaining traction through its integrations.
Omnichannel Retail (Walmart, Target, Home Depot, CVS)
ChatGPT grew 696% at Home Depot and 415% at Target.
Copilot exploded with 1021% growth at Walmart and 5582% growth at CVS.
Gemini and Perplexity showed moderate double and triple digit increases.
The takeaway is that each assistant has a distinct discovery behavior.
ChatGPT dominates research-mode searches.
Copilot leads task-mode searches.
Gemini is gaining traction in mobile and local contexts.
3. Consumer adoption has already hit mainstream levels.
66% of Americans know what AI shopping assistants are.
61% have used ChatGPT to research or buy a product.
57% have used a dedicated AI shopping assistant in the last 9 months.
This means more than half of online shoppers already use AI as part of their buying journey.
The funnel is changing faster than expected, and discovery is now happening before users even reach Google.
This is the first major traffic shift since the rise of mobile search in 2010.
4. AI referral traffic behaves differently once it lands on a site.
Consumers identified the biggest friction points when shopping through AI interfaces:
58% worry about data privacy.
42% dislike over-targeted ads.
40% are frustrated by the lack of human support.
37% have general privacy concerns.
31% say AI recommendations feel inaccurate.
The insight here is critical.
People love the convenience but still do not trust the interface.
AI systems reflect this same bias in how they rank and cite content.
They prioritize structure, clarity, and credibility.
That means:
Schema markup for brand and product entities.
Visible refund and support information.
Consistent entity data across all listings.
Clean HTML that machines can read.
Trust and structure are not just conversion factors. They are ranking signals in AI search.
5. The study also showed that AI referrals tend to land higher in the funnel.
Instead of sending users directly to product pages, assistants are linking to category pages, buying guides, and educational content.
This aligns perfectly with what we have seen at SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com).
AI engines prefer structured comparison content because it helps them answer questions directly.
That is why so many brands are already being cited in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews as the sources for their own mentions.
(I went into a lot of detail about this in my post from 2 days ago; scroll down and find it.)
Their blogs are formatted correctly.
Clean HTML.
Numbered lists.
Factual summaries.
Updated timestamps.
That is exactly what LLMs look for when deciding which URLs to surface.
6. The report ends with a clear recommendation.
Marketers should start optimizing for visibility across AI surfaces by focusing on product descriptions, structured data, and conversational queries.
That is what we call AI Search Optimization.
It connects traditional SEO with the new AI discovery layer.
To execute, your site needs:
Question-based H2s with concise 2 to 4 sentence answers.
Machine-readable trust data like schema and freshness.
Conversational phrasing for AI retrieval.
A 30 to 90 day refresh cycle for recency.
Aligned entity data across your entire domain.
If you are not doing this, AI systems cannot accurately see or represent your brand, even if you rank in Google.
7. The 35x growth in AI referrals proves that assistants are absorbing the top of the funnel.
They are replacing the list of 10 search results with one synthesized answer.
The winner is no longer who ranks first in Google.
It is who gets quoted, summarized, and cited inside AI results.
That is where SEO Stuff was built to help.
SEO Stuff Gold Plan
seo-stuff.com/gold-plan-pack…
10 long-form, AI-quotable articles
3 DR50+ backlinks for authority
It works because AI assistants quote the same content that Google ranks, but only when it is structured clearly enough to extract.
SEO Stuff Premium Content Bundle
seo-stuff.com/premium-conten…
60 comparison and best-of articles
Conversational headings, TLDRs, and freshness indicators
Internal linking and factual summaries
Optimized for both AI and Google ecosystems
This plan scales your brand across every layer of search.
Publishing at this level builds topical authority, which is the single strongest entity signal in AI search.
Together, the Gold Plan and Premium Content Bundle turn your site into an AI citation engine.
They build Google authority, feed structured data to LLMs, and strengthen trust signals that drive conversions.
8. AI referral traffic grew 35x in 18 months and has not even come close to saturation.
The next 18 months will decide which brands become the default entities that AI assistants cite in every category.
Starting now means your content becomes part of the training data that future models use.
Waiting means you will end up summarized beneath your competitors.
The brands that invest in structure, freshness, and trust now will own AI search visibility by 2026.
AI assistants are now a permanent part of the buying journey.
Google SEO remains the foundation, but AI Search Optimization determines who gets surfaced, summarized, and trusted inside those answers.
That is what SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) was designed to do.

We are currently in a whirlwind of informational chaos, and the days ahead will be just as intense and extremely difficult. There are so many internal and external issues, problems, crises, and interests at play - geopolitical, governmental, and private - that it is difficult to see a coherent picture of what is happening.
In Ukraine, everything is compounded by people's accumulated fatigue and exhaustion from the war.
In 2022, at the beginning of the full-scale war, we felt a rush of adrenaline, there was an explosion of the struggle for justice, and everyone united in defense of our country. Now, many people are unable to endure it, physically and mentally.
But hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians continue to fight on the frontlines, bravely and courageously. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians volunteer in the rear, supporting Ukrainian Defense Forces, enduring 10-15 hours of power outages per day - and some even the lack of heating and water in cold apartments. Despite everything, they remain faithful and hopeful.
Therefore, in a situation of information chaos, it is crucial to maintain critical thinking, common sense and engage in activities that are beneficial and productive for the Ukrainian people.
The most important task for Ukraine is to preserve our sovereignty and to strengthen and support the self-defense forces.
We must overcome the crisis, maintain unity, and overcome division. We must reinforce both the front and the rear, and hold the line.
Let us not forget that the main enemy is Russia.
I believe that Ukraine will stand her ground. Strength to us all.

I’m confused as to why everyone isn’t taking advantage of the easiest way to get traffic and sales from ChatGPT right now.
I touched on it already, but a recent study highlighted a key method SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) has been using to get customers cited across both ChatGPT and Perplexity.
Let’s go over it again so you can take advantage and boost those Q4 sales numbers.
But before we dive into the details...
If you want a few cheat codes for getting cited in ChatGPT within the next 30 days, just RT this, follow me, and reply “SEO Stuff ChatGPT Cheat Codes” and I will DM you.

Alright, let’s get into it.
A lot of B2B companies I see on here still treat their website blog like an afterthought or a place for announcements and recycled press releases.
This completely ignores the fact that vendor blogs are quietly becoming one of the most cited sources in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
I'm including the raw data that supports this below.
There is a reason so many SEO Stuff customers who start with the Gold Plan follow it by purchasing monthly Premium Content Bundles.
When done correctly, the content provides a massive boost.
Let’s get into the numbers that back this up.
Rankscale’s recent study analyzed thousands of commercial queries such as:
“Best CRM tools for small business”
“Top cybersecurity vendors 2025”
“Best online course platforms”
They analyzed these across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.
A meaningful portion of citations did not come from tech magazines or directory sites.
They came directly from company blogs.
Thinkific, LearnWorlds, Monday, Pipedrive, HP, and more were cited directly inside AI responses.
These were not guest posts.
They were not paid PR placements.
They were their own blog posts.
Here is why this is happening.
AI engines need structured, factual text.
Vendor blogs, when done correctly, contain clean HTML, lists, and schema, making them easy to extract from.
There is a shortage of neutral comparison content.
Many publishers are not writing detailed product-to-product breakdowns in niche categories.
So AI pulls from the sites that do.
The algorithm does not care about bias. It cares about clarity.
If your article is titled “The 7 Best CRM Tools (Ranked by Integrations, Support, and Pricing)” and structured properly, AI does not know or care that it was written by a CRM company.
Freshness matters too.
Gemini and ChatGPT Search favor recently updated content.
There is a reason NerdWallet updates their top-performing content every few weeks to months, not every few months to years.
Many media outlets publish once per year, while vendor blogs update constantly, letting them win by default.
So what does this mean?
If you are in SaaS, tech, or any B2B vertical, your blog is no longer just content marketing.
It is now your entry point into AI search visibility.
Every comparison post, best-of list, and vendor ranking article you create trains AI to associate your brand with your category.
You are teaching the next generation of search engines to trust you.
Brands that start now will own their category in 6 to 12 months.
Brands that wait will be buried under competitors who moved first.
This shift is exactly why SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) was built.
The two most popular packages right now are:
1. The Gold Plan
10 long-form, snippet-optimized articles plus 3 DR50+ backlinks.
Each article built to rank for high-intent comparison and best-of searches that AI pulls from most often.
Includes AI-readable formatting, clean HTML, H2 questions, FAQs, and TL;DR summaries.
seo-stuff.com/gold-plan-pack…
2. The Premium Content Bundle
60 comparison articles written in the same format Rankscale discovered being cited across ChatGPT and Gemini.
Built for Google ranking and AI extraction, with internal linking, FAQs, and structured formatting.
seo-stuff.com/premium-conten…
Together, these packages do three things no standard SEO offer does:
Turn your blog into an AI citation engine.
Build authority that compounds across Google and AI search at the same time.
Drive traffic that converts from both search layers.
The real opportunity now is training AI to see your brand as the authority in your space.
The companies already doing this quietly through their blogs are the ones being cited, summarized, and surfaced across every AI platform.
The future of search is not just ranking first in Google, though that still prints money today.
It is ranking first in the AI models themselves.
The companies that teach AI first will win the category.
That is what SEO Stuff was built to do.

The Gold Plan (seo-stuff.com/gold-plan-pack…) is so popular that more than 80 percent of customers who buy it return for multiple other purchases.
Alright, let’s get into it.
OpenAI recently announced that users will be able to buy directly from Shopify and Etsy sellers.
They also announced that they were open-sourcing the technology that powers Instant Checkout, the Agentic Commerce Protocol, so that more merchants and developers can begin building their integrations.
Everyone called this a “Shopify moment” for AI, but it is actually deeper than that.
Uploading a feed is not enough.
If your site structure, authority, and content are not already optimized for AI discovery, ChatGPT will not surface your products.
OpenAI’s Product Feed Spec is a set of rules for sharing structured product data with ChatGPT.
Think of it like a Merchant Center feed for AI search.
When you give ChatGPT your product data in a structured format, it can show your listings with accurate titles, prices, stock, and images directly inside chat.
Here is the process:
Prepare your feed in CSV, TSV, XML, or JSON format.
Include required fields like product ID, title, description, price, and availability.
Deliver it to OpenAI’s endpoint.
Keep it updated every time products or prices change.
But the feed only works if your site’s content and schema are clean.
The key feed sections:
1. OpenAI Flags
Two simple settings control visibility:
enable_search: lets ChatGPT show your product in search results.
enable_checkout: lets users buy directly inside ChatGPT.
You must set enable_search to true before enable_checkout can work.
If your store’s content is not being indexed or trusted by ChatGPT yet, enabling checkout will not matter.
2. Basic Product Data
This is the foundation. Every product needs:
id: your product’s unique SKU.
title: your product name (clear, natural, no all-caps).
description: plain text up to 5,000 characters.
link: the URL to the product page.
These fields help ChatGPT connect your feed data to your website.
If your site titles, descriptions, and canonical URLs are messy, the feed will not parse properly.
3. Item Information
This tells ChatGPT what your product actually is.
Fields include brand, category, and material.
Condition (new, used, refurbished).
Weight, dimensions, and age_group.
These help AI engines group your product correctly with similar listings.
For example, if your product category says “apparel > shoes,” ChatGPT knows how to classify it for running shoes instead of electronics.
Most e-commerce sites mislabel these categories or use inconsistent formatting.
4. Media
This is where most brands underperform.
You need:
image_link: main image.
additional_image_link: extra product images.
video_link or 3D_model_link (optional but powerful).
ChatGPT favors listings with clear, high-resolution images.
Feeds with broken or low-quality image links are often excluded entirely.
5. Price and Promotions
These fields tell ChatGPT how to display pricing and discounts:
price: base price with currency code (for example, 79.99 USD).
sale_price: optional, must be lower than base price.
sale_price_effective_date: when the discount is valid.
The feed updates every 15 minutes.
6. Availability and Inventory
You must declare:
availability: in_stock, out_of_stock, or preorder.
inventory_quantity: how many units are left.
availability_date: if the product is on preorder.
Feeds that show “in stock” but link to out-of-stock pages lose trust and visibility quickly.
This is where freshness and structured data updates matter most.
7. Variants and Groupings
Products with sizes, colors, or styles must use item_group_id to connect all versions of a product.
Example: one “Men’s Running Shoe” might have ten variants in color and size.
Without proper grouping, ChatGPT treats them as unrelated products, breaking discoverability.
8. Reviews and Q&A
OpenAI values review data.
Including these fields improves ranking and user trust:
product_review_count
product_review_rating
store_review_count
store_review_rating
q_and_a
Most stores never implement review schema or connect their data.
9. Merchant and Returns Info
OpenAI requires:
seller_name and seller_url.
Privacy policy and Terms of Service links if you enable checkout.
Return policy URL and return_window (in days).
These details are critical for being included in ChatGPT’s shopping module.
Missing policies mean your listings will not be purchasable in chat.
So why does all this matter?
The Product Feed Spec gives you the syntax to get indexed in ChatGPT, but syntax alone does not earn visibility within AI platforms.
ChatGPT prioritizes structured, authoritative, and trusted sources.
If your content, links, and schema are weak, your feed will not rank even if it is formatted correctly.
That is where SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) comes in.
Gold Plan: snippet-ready content and backlink authority to rank in Google and AI systems.
seo-stuff.com/gold-plan-pack…
Premium Content Bundle: sixty optimized articles, product descriptions, and comparison pages built for AI extraction and schema compliance.
seo-stuff.com/premium-conten…
Premium Backlink Bundle: three DR50+ backlinks from high-trust, AI-visible sites.
seo-stuff.com/premium-backli…
Together, they create the visibility foundation your business depends on.
OpenAI’s Product Feed Spec makes ChatGPT commerce possible.
But before your feed matters, your site has to be discoverable, structured, and trusted.
That is what SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) customers already have in place.

Hate it or love it — the Western world runs on capitalism. It doesn’t matter whether you agree with it or not. The operating system is set.
Over the last 25 years, that system has disproportionately rewarded countries that created the best conditions for high-margin, fast-growth tech companies to emerge.
In simple terms: places where founders were encouraged to take big risks — and investors backed them.
The result? An outsized share of global wealth creation concentrated in a few innovation hubs.
So what does this mean for Europe?
With over 500 million people, Europe has a historic opportunity: to become the best place in the world to build and invest in ambitious companies.
If we want to preserve the privileges we enjoy today, there is no alternative. We must grow. We must compete globally.
Innovation isn’t a luxury. It’s the prerequisite for everything else.
Everything in this thread connects. Think about it.
