So how much longer are you going to pretend not to notice that this man is profoundly mentally unwell?
What exactly are you waiting for? For him to set Rome ablaze and dance, lyre in hands, against a backdrop of smoldering ruins?

6 killed for now.
Every time you think russia has hit rock bottom, it somehow manages to sink even lower.

While the Rebelles put their navigation skills to the test, Iridium provides the reliable connectivity for tracking and critical safety communications, even in the most remote terrain.

Testing my Starlink V5 magnetic mount.
I don't fully trust these magnets, especially on the uneven surface of the air conditioning unit, so I'll secure the mount with a steel safety cable as an extra precaution.
Surrounding buildings partially obstruct the view of the sky, and the weather is wet and foggy today. Despite these less-than-ideal conditions, the V5 is performing very well.
This will serve as my backup internet connection in case the ground-based infrastructure is damaged or destroyed.

Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine. Restoration work is ongoing, with all necessary services and all available resources of Ukrainian energy companies involved. I thank everyone working practically nonstop to restore power.
The most difficult situation was in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. Energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, and other regions were also hit. The Russians have scaled up their anti-energy operation and are trying to stretch our reserves and repair capabilities as thin as possible. Between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today alone, more than 320 jet-powered and gasoline-powered “shaheds,” along with loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, were used against our energy sector, our cities, and our communities. And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences.
It is important that our European partners have already prepared new support packages for Ukraine. I am grateful to them for this. And it is important that everyone in America also sees what is really happening. At a time when the Russians have carried out such a massive attack on our energy sector, a decision was unfortunately made in America to completely disregard the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to impose truly effective pressure on Russia to bring this war to an end. This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters.
Russia is trying to cause a blackout in Ukraine – right before winter. Russia is trying to leave millions of our people without electricity and heating. Pressure is needed to stop this. A U.S. sanctions blackout, easing pressure on the aggressor, financial rewards for Putin – all of this only encourages him to keep attacking. We must not give up ground. We must keep trying to end the war. To end it, not give Putin every reason to continue it indefinitely. I thank everyone who is truly fighting for peace and helping Ukraine!

LEO-based PNT is the future of navigation. More satellites, significantly stronger signals, and much greater resistance to spoofing.
Players in this field already exist, such as Iridium, with more to come.
Starlink's navigation capabilities have evolved remarkably quickly, moving from a gimmick to a genuinely useful feature.
Yet most Starlink terminals still rely on a GPS receiver for in-motion operation.
Take the new V5 terminal, for example. The stationary consumer version lacks a GPS chip, but the REV5_AUTO variant (used in the Cybercab) brings back the good old STA8089, sacrificing a few phased-array antenna elements to make room for it.
The Starshield version of the Mini goes even further, featuring a TESEO-V GNSS receiver.
The reason is simple: in some cases, proven hardware still beats a purely software-based approach.
Starlink calculates its position during gaps in TDMA frames. It's essentially a side job for the terminal's firmware. It works incredibly well these days.
I'd love to see a dedicated ASIC for Starlink PNT.
That could be a game changer.

Eastern barbarians have once again damaged power lines, leaving parts of Kyiv without electricity.
My home is running on backup power, so the lights are still on. I guess it's a good time to start a new book.
Kubrick's Space Odyssey is one of the best movies ever made, but I've never read Clarke's novel. I know it was published shortly after the movie's release and differs slightly from the film.
Excited to finally read it!

Steven Soderbergh will help finish “The Batman Part II” while director Matt Reeves is on hiatus dealing with a personal matter.
Soderbergh said in a statement: “I thought Matt Reeves’ work on ‘The Batman’ was stunning; it was intentional, specific and rigorously coherent. The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film.”
A studio rep said in a statement: “As Matt Reeves continues to attend to an ongoing family matter, Steven Soderbergh, as an admirer of Matt’s work, approached Matt and will step in, with the full support of DC Studios, to help the writer-director complete the final weeks of principal photography on 'The Batman Part 2.' Matt and Steven will work closely together with the actors and crew to fulfill Matt’s vision of the film.”

Removing Starshield’s speed limit entirely is now critical for Ukraine’s defense.

Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government. Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.
Starlink is a commercial service owned and controlled by SpaceX. Usage of Starlink is limited to civilian or defensive activities and cannot be used for offensive military action, as doing so would be inappropriate for a commercial company.
