We need to face the fact that thereβs already a huge number of people, especially younger people, who talk to AI like itβs their friend and carry on near constant conversations with it. What happens when a critical mass of people spend most of their day bonding and communicating with an inhuman algorithm controlled by a trillion dollar tech company? Nobody knows. Most of the dystopian sci fi writers never even envisioned a scenario this bleak. And our leaders have apparently no interest in trying to prevent any of this from happening. Really grim stuff.

being stuck on your computer and not leaving your room lain-style had this cool factor you could latch onto cause it was subcultural but now that this is the default for a lot of people such that it's not cool or subversive anymore it made something already miserable more so
