the whole narrative that the ban is staged and a setup for trump to be the savior after taking office while being the person who created the initial ban is 100% true. messaging from tiktok is blatantly unprofessional and a charade.

Why do I use AI to help me code, but not to help me write? I think there are so many different ways to express yourself in writing, relative to the options for coding. And I like too much the process of creating among those infinite options.

I don't think polite fictions are useful because it does not address the root issue. Everyone still hates Miss Bates. The better thing to do would be to actually help her be less annoying or change the society to address injustices.
Jane Austen has a great bit in Emma where she demonstrates the importance of polite fictions there's this character called Miss Bates who was born into wealth and class but is now a poor spinster who relies on the kindness of others

when I met my wife: we talked in public ~15 times but she didn't really get me because I tried to be polite and not talk for 20 min about my obsessions then she happened upon one of my really early essays and was like "yeah??? you think like that? I must talk to you for real"
I’m starting to believe that “write on the Internet, even if no one reads it” is underrated life advice. it doesn’t benefit other people necessarily, it benefits *you* bc the people who do find/like your writing and then reach out are so much more likely to be compatible with you

called my cofounder at 12am to talk myself out of an irrational decision and he gave me the most life changing piece of advice i've heard in a minute: don't take the stress from things out of your control out on the things within your control bless 🙏🏻

Every saturday morning for the last 6 years, I watch this obscure video. It's Jeff Bezos talking about leadership, but really, it's the most succinct blueprint for how to achieve greatness I have ever found. You should watch it often, but I summarized it here: (thread, sry)

So many emotional parallels between dating and job hunting. Being rejected, even if it’s not a good fit, hurts your sense of self

Sometimes you write an essay that feels like a heart beating under the floorboards. Here is one. On dating after divorce, acting my age, and dreaming big with younger men. thecut.com/article/dating-ap…

I've been on a hunt for a year to find a not-sweet light, fluffy, and eggy scone. Finally I decided to try to make it myself! I think there wasn't enough lemon zest but otherwise pretty good. Did an eggwash finish that I really liked.

My thoughts on when to leave IF you're in a job for the equity

2. Is it the business direction/product leadership? If you cannot control it OR you do not know what it should be, leave. If it's a failed experiment but leadership is measuring and responding in the right ways, you can gamble on staying

3. Is it the quality of the tech? If you cannot control it, nothing is changing, OR you don't know what it should be, leave.
