We lost our way with modern cameras. They fooled us into believing that a good photo is one captured at the highest resolution, in sharp focus, evenly exposed, denoised, & cleaned up.
Yet many of our favorite photos are messy, blurry, accidental. Forget all the technical nonsense—the best photo is the one that makes you feel something.
The camera was once a creative tool, not just a way to document the moments in our lives but a way to discover them. Don't forget to play.

I spent the summer in Japan and needed a good photo look for their traditional interiors.
I'm a big fan of Robert Altman, in particular his 1970s New Hollywood era look of cozy, earthy, grainy interiors.
So I made a new photo style called ALTMAN, available now in !Camera.

The mind is a powerful place and what you feed it can affect you in a powerful way.
Tobi Lutke @tobi on how you can literally change the way you think and act:
“I was terrified of public speaking until I sat down for a week and every day I spent 10 minutes just writing that I like public speaking. And now I love public speaking.”
“If you write something down 100 times about yourself, your brain will start reconciling you to that.”

I love designing for time. So when @RasmusNielsen reached out to do a uniquely !Boring clock design for the Tinker app… I had an idea.
Design is ultimately about values and how you want to live your life. Shimmer is a reminder that time moves at a cosmic scale that we can't move, but we can pause and enjoy the shimmering stars of this moment.

This summer I traveled around Hokkaido and struggled to find a photo style that captured the majesty of the place.
So I set out to develop a new photo LUT inspired by someone who does it best… legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins.
He's mastered the ability to subtly dramatize a scene without feeling like you're seeing an effect. Green forests feel lush, seas look deep blue, yet warm colors remain punchy and skin tones look natural.
It took weeks of iteration, but I landed on something that I now can't live without. It's become my new daily driver.
If you primarily shoot on your phone and want daily photos that simply look great without any edits, trust me… get !Camera, shoot with DEAKINS.

Inspired by Susan Kare's original Mac control panel, we made every !Camera control visible & immediate. No hidden modes, no alternate views, no popup menus, no N-way toggles. Every adjustment takes just one action.
