The amount of sports gambling ads being shoved down our throats during hockey games is disturbing. It’s not just commercial breaks, it’s during minor stoppages like between faceoffs. Deeply irresponsible given the rate of gambling addiction.

Through the Genuine Mackenzie Valley Fur (GMVF) program, NWT trappers sold more than $1 million in furs in 2026 with a total sale of 5,819 pelts at Fur Harvesters Auction. NWT trappers also received more than $140,000 in prime fur bonus payments through the Genuine Mackenzie Valley Fur, Prime Fur Bonus program. In total, for 2026, NWT trappers received more than $1.2 million and broke the 1-million-dollar mark in sales for the first time since 2014!
