Few Minnesotans have played for #USMNT, and #MNUFC academy has done little to produce #MLS players — much less national-team-caliber guys.
But #Loons now tout handful of American prospects as U.S. plays Canada in St. Paul on Tuesday.

Noahkai Banks has picked Germany over the USMNT.
He's filed for a one-time switch. It hasn't yet been confirmed by FIFA, but if/when approved, he'll play for Germany's U-21s this month, and will no longer be eligible to represent the U.S.

When is Minnesota going to give this kid a chance on the first team? He has a good argument for being considered the top u19 player in mlsnp this year.

Of note: MLS teams will have unlimited roster flexibility for Open Cup games, allowing Next Pro or even academy players to participate. U.S. Soccer also doubles prize money from the last time all MLS teams participated in the century-old tournament, in 2023.
Good moves.
Looking ahead to a big 2027 👀
The format for the 112th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup has been finalized.

if mls is changing the playoff format, why not let the teams pick who they want to play
would be instant drama, every team would have an extra edge to them knowing the other squad specifically picked them
would reward regular season play, could pick the easiest path to a cup

It was another wild night at Allianz Field last night. Here's how the Loons' three goals in four minutes sounded on the radio call.

Uefa and Concacaf in talks over launching joint Nations League from 2028 in latest challenge to Fifa | The Guardian theguardian.com/football/202…
the usmnt plays so many lose/lose games where
1) if we win - no one cares because it’s panama, jamaica, costa rica etc
2) if we lose - it’s an absolute disaster because it’s panama, jamaica, costa rica etc
would be MASSIVE for the game in north america theguardian.com/football/202…

Remember this as an important moment, signaling the next chapter for USMNT. I have said for a while that the 2007 class is an inflection point in development. Gozo is the first of this next wave to make a big move. I can’t wait to see how it goes.
