🔧 Under the Hood Ep. 1: Ticker Path
Ever wondered how those cool text animations that follow custom paths work? Let me break down how I built this one!
The component takes your content (images, text, whatever you want) and makes it flow smoothly along any path you choose. Think of it like a train following a track, but the track can be a spiral, wave, or any shape you can imagine!
The magic happens through something called path interpolation. Imagine drawing dots along your path and then making your content jump from dot to dot so smoothly that it looks like continuous movement. That's what's happening behind the scenes.
Fun features:
- Speed control (even reacts to scrolling)
- Hover effects that slow down items
- Drag to control the movement
- Fade in/out at the start/end of the path
Biggest challenge:
Making it fully responsive on framer canvas and adapt to parent frame size and center it to parent frame. Due to nature of this comp I needed to create multiple helper functions that calculate accurate position in the parent frame on framer canvas.
Btw, the original React component was built by the wizard @nonzeroexitcode. Nandi came up with the idea of porting it to Framer, and I developed the Framer version to make it super easy to configure for Framer builders.
Ever wondered how complex it is to make it work properly in Framer (both on the canvas and in preview/live site) while keeping it easy to customize? The original React component is 411 lines of code. The Framer version? 1,391 lines.

🎉 Introducing: Ticker Path Component for @Framer.
Use this to move a set of elements along a custom path.
On scroll speed change, hover, and drag interactions included.

It’s been some time since I started working on a new site that better shows the essence and style that I've evolved over the last years. The site is an ode to this growth. A part II of a journey I've enjoyed to discover and work throughout the process.
