"This is the best game!" said my Rising Star. Forty Faces was a hit! And so was investigating how the Earth's rotation affects shadows. Learning while doing is fun! Keeping the dream alive at RPBES. @RisaSuarez @RobertTutoni @nomathhaters @TeachLearnMeg @CrissyTab @pbscience4u

The last 2 days, the Rising Stars Summer Program teachers @pbcsd had so much fun learning and playing some of the @MathforLove games and activities they will do with their students, it was hard to get them to stop. They can’t wait to start next week! @MickeyBanek @robrien2013

Your students love math because of you!

Replying to @DrEugeniaCheng
@DrEugeniaCheng Says that when we stop students going to higher levels of maths because they aren't good at times tables or equations, it's like not letting people go into swimming because they aren't a good runner. Times tables are "an absolutely tiny part of maths." Great book!

I ❤️ this idea! Yes, #HandsOnMathMatters @agoldberg_DP. A little bit of @CainesArcade inspiration! May I borrow your pics for Grade 5/AMP4 ideas for our Unit 17, which is a new data unit?
Our AMP (6th adv) students had fun constructing carnival games then playing each other’s games to gather and evaluate statistical data @DelPradoElem @PBCSTEM @nomathhaters @suefigueroapbc @Laurie_leads #STEMmatters #HandsOnMathMatters @pbcsd

Best SEL moment today! During math, as we were solving a problem together, I did the nerdiest thing and under my breath, I laughingly said, “I am such a DORK!” In unison, all 23 kiddos said, “Mrs. Innerst, NEVER speak negativity over your life!” lol @selpbc @nomathhaters

Today we did an outdoor gallery walk for math review. The kids worked at their own pace in partnerships or groups. You know it’s good when you get a “best day ever!” @TerriGirolmetti @JcElementary

This whole 🧵 is filled with knowledge from experts about why timed tests are ineffective for learning and practicing facts. I especially ❤️ this tweet from the author of Solving for Why. Also weighing in…@JBayWilliams who we had the privilege of learning from this week.
If fact drill is so effective, why are they STILL doing it in eighth grade? People cling to this because it’s easy to measure, not because it’s so important. This is like a person trying to hide their nakedness behind a Kleenex.
