Over the past few days, I've taken the time to summarize my thoughts on the recent incidents involving agents’ misaligned behavior. We don't know with certainty what comes next, but we know where these issues originate, and this can help us plan the path forward. Please feel free to ask your questions in the replies, and I’ll try to answer some of them in the coming weeks. yoshuabengio.org/en/publicat…

Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.
Replying to @hilbertspaess
The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.

I've spent the past few weeks reading 100s of public data sources about AI development. I now believe that recursive self-improvement has a 60% chance of happening by the end of 2028. In other words, AI systems might soon be capable of building themselves.

NEW: We've issued Bristol City Council with an enforcement notice for their failure to respond to the public's information requests. Subject access requests are a fundamental right, this action requires them to clear their SAR backlog and make lasting improvements.

Are you looking for a thread on the trade deal between the UK and India and the lies some people are telling about it, from a cat? If so, you're weird but in the right place... Yesterday the UK and India announced a new free trade agreement, which it s estimated will add £5bn a year to the UK economy gov.uk/government/news/uk-in…
