One semester in school, I had a 3.10 GPA and cried so much. Funding in humanities and social science already felt difficult enough to secure, and here I was, inconsolable. There was the issue of my chances at funding reducing, and then there was the other issue of how I was even going to mention a 3.10 GPA at home. I eventually summoned the courage and showed my folks. I still remember the earful from my mom, my sister too, though she eventually consoled me and assured me this wasn't the end (my shaylaaa 😂). I hadn't failed; a 3.10/4.0 was pretty decent, and I knew plenty of people who made a 3.0 and were thrilled with it. But for me, it was something I needed to really work on to access certain opportunities. I didn't let it deter me. I didn't eventually graduate with a first class 😂, but I never stopped daring to dream. Remembering that moment still hurts, but not letting it stop me got me this far 🙏🏾 Seeing fresh graduates on the timeline today, I know many feel they didn't perform up to their own expectations, some may have fallen below the standards they set for themselves. I hope they don't let it stop them. Dare to dream anyway. – at Turku, Finland
