Midterms coming
BREAKING: 🇺🇸 Senate Republicans just introduced the ADAPT Act, a new crypto tax bill.
Key changes in the bill:
1. No tax on stablecoin payments, as long as the coin trades within 3% of $1.
2. No tax on small crypto network fees (like gas fees) under $10 per transaction.
3. Wash sale rules would now apply to crypto, closing a loophole traders used to claim tax losses
4. Mining and staking rewards get clearer rules for where they're taxed
5. Foreign investors trading crypto through a US broker won't be treated as doing business in the US
6. Donating crypto to charity no longer needs a formal appraisal, same as donating stock
If passed, these changes would take effect starting in 2027.
Anthropic Limited-time offer: buy two, pay for both.
#Unthropic
I went down the rabbit hole: Anthropic is already being sued over exactly this. And the $200 plan really only provides only around 2x the weekly usage of the $100 plan
Here is where the confusion comes from.
Anthropic’s pricing page says: “Choose 5x or 20x more usage than Pro.”
That naturally makes the $200 Max 20x plan sound like it includes four times the usage of the $100 Max 5x plan.
Only further down does Anthropic clarify: “Max gives you 5x or 20x more usage per 5-hour session than Pro.”
Those multipliers do not apply to the separate weekly caps, whose exact size Anthropic does not disclose.
A proposed class action filed in June alleges that Max 5x delivers around 3.5x Pro’s weekly usage, while Max 20x delivers just 6–8x. In practice, the $200 plan therefore provides only around 2x the weekly usage of the $100 plan, sometimes even less depending on the model.
The “20x” is real within each five-hour window. The weekly limit makes the overall offer look very different.
h/t @Hesamation for finding the original court files first i think

Almost nobody knows how GenLayer actually started.
Genesis is a short documentary where @kstellana walks through GenLayer from the very beginning to where the network stands today.

Data is the fuel. Privacy is the missing feature. You can’t harvest what you can’t see.

Won’t happen. Their business model IS data harvesting. API/subs payments are just the “icing on the iceberg.”
Al frontier lab does that. The diff is that Chinese labs are far more skewed toward harvesting data, while US labs are far more dependent on API and subscription revenue

Respectfully, disagree.
This feels like an excuse to go closed-source due to competition, wrapped in a security narrative.
It's like saying "now that the rifle was invented, armies don't matter anymore." Security has always been a resource competition, and it always will be.
Open source is dead.
That’s not a statement we ever thought we’d make.
@calcom was built on open source. It shaped our product, our community, and our growth. But the world has changed faster than our principles could keep up.
AI has fundamentally altered the security landscape. What once required time, expertise, and intent can now be automated at scale. Code is no longer just read. It is scanned, mapped, and exploited. Near zero cost.
In that world, transparency becomes exposure. Especially at scale.
After a lot of deliberation, we’ve made the decision to close the core @calcom codebase.
This is not a rejection of what open source gave us. It’s a response to what risks AI is making possible.
We’re still supporting builders, releasing the core code under a new MIT-licensed open source project called cal. diy for hobbyists and tinkerers, but our priority now is simple:
Protecting our customers and community at all costs.
This may not be the most popular call.
But we believe many companies will come to the same conclusion.
