In 1948, a guy in Florida wore heavy, three-toed lead shoes that weighed around 30 pounds. He stomped around a beach at night, leaving behind massive footprints. People thought a 15-foot-tall penguin was roaming the area. This prankster kept it up for 10 years, hitting different beaches. The truth didn't come out until 40 years later when he finally spilled the beans. It was just a prank, but it had everyone fooled for a very long time.

Gunnar Kaasen and his team of 13 dogs, led by the Siberian husky, Balto, completed the last leg of a 1925 trip to deliver 300,000 units of diphtheria antitoxin to Nome, Alaska to prevent an outbreak. They traveled by night in temperatures of -23 °F (-31 °C).
They delivered the serum to Nome with half a day to spare, saving 10,000 lives. The story made Siberian Huskies famous. Balto is immortalized in a bronze statue in New York's Central Park.
