Welcome confirmation that the factual summary was not the report. No future government should treat it as starting the five-year clock. Yet seven and a half years after the duty was introduced, the report remains due “in due course”. Families deserve a date.

The harm may be the same. The failures may be the same. Why should the opportunity for independent scrutiny, and to prevent another death, depend on whether a baby took a breath? Same harm. Same justice. nobreathrequired.uk

The cause may be the same. The result may be the same. Only the timing may differ. Why should a baby who died before taking a breath receive less independent scrutiny? No breath required.

A new week. The same demand. Where care may have failed a baby, access to independent coronial scrutiny should not depend on whether they were born alive. Same harm. Same justice. nobreathrequired.uk

This week the case for independent scrutiny of stillbirths reached national TV and ministers. We welcome engagement. Now we need clear answers, a timetable and action. Being heard is a start. What changes next is what counts. @SkyNews @MoJGovUK @SophyRidgeSky @AlexDaviesJones

As Baby Loss Awareness Week ends, our babies remain part of our families. Remembering who they were goes hand in hand with asking why they died. Same harm. Same justice. #BLAW

Yesterday’s meeting was constructive, but reassurances need to be followed by commitments. Seven years after Parliament passed the legislation, we are still waiting for the statutory report. We are asking for clarity, accountability and a timetable. Same harm. Same justice.

We're grateful to have our campaign supported in @ukparliament - Babies who die must be afforded the same investigative routes - there should be no breath required.

And importantly please ask your MP to lobby ministers to enact Clause 4 of my Civil Partnerships, Marriages & Deaths Act which gives owers to coroners to investigate stillbirths. Despite becoming law in 2019 after my long campaign in Parliament it has still not beeen brought in.
Please listen to this heartbreaking interview Stillborn babies are denied access to coroners. This means there’s an incentive not to record “signs of life” - like a breath. If we are serious about NHS transparency - and how we can improve care - let’s start here:

Thanks to @MichelleWelshMP for mentioning our campaign in tonight’s debate. The response we’ve received today has been positive. Thanks also to @RosieDuffield1, @timloughton @AlexDaviesJones, Baroness Merron and @YvetteCooperMP. And to @SophyRidgeSky and @WilfredFrost

Coronial inquests for stillbirths is desperately needed to enforce accountability. Interestingly the "Born Alive" rule to allow Australian coronial reviews sets an extraordinarily low threshold for what constitutes evidence of life in a newborn. 1/2

This afternoon we met the @AlexDaviesJones and Baroness Merron regarding coroner policy. We pressed for commitment to a timescale and answers to the questions we have raised. Ministers confirmed the 2023 factual summary did not constitute ‘the report’. Thank you for your time.

Today at last I have a meeting with Health and Justice Ministers to enact Clause 4 of my Civil Partnerships, Marriages & Deaths Act giving powers to coroners to investigate stillbirths which became law in 2019 after my long campaign in Parliament. Please lobby your MP to support
I spoke to @SkyNews about why stillborn babies like Aubrey are denied access to coroners. Parliament acted in 2019. Seven years later: no report, no timetable. One breath should not decide whether a baby’s death can be investigated. @SophyRidgeSky @WilfredFrost @RidgeandFrost

Another wrong.Another power dynamic waged against babies, families, truths & safer care. Babies continue to be regarded as second class citizens in England; not offered the same basic level of humanity as ‘children’ & adults. Keep going @DadOfAubrey #maternity #justice #BLAW

Seven years after Parliament required the Government to report on coroners investigating stillbirths, families are still waiting. The Government must now finish the job. Same harm. Same justice. No breath required. @SophyRidgeSky @WilfredFrost @SkyNews @RidgeandFrost
