The Umbrel app is now on Windows!
Just like on Mac, it finds your Umbrel automatically, adds it as a drive in File Explorer, and works remotely with Tailscale.
The only cloud in File Explorer you actually own: link.umbrel.com/windows-app
Your spare computer is one USB stick away from becoming your own private cloud.
Watch @lukechilds install umbrelOS 2.0 on a NAS and an AI PC, set up FailSafe (RAID), then pull a drive out while it's running.

umbrelOS 2.0 has been living in our heads for a long time. We kept shipping knowing this was the one we were building toward.
None of this exists without this team. What an absurdly talented and relentless group of people. Genuinely feel incredibly lucky to build alongside them.
There's so much in this release. We'll go deep on all of it on September 22.

🚨 Update: A new Core Lightning app update is available on @umbrel. Please update again, even if you already installed v26.06.7.
We rebuilt the app from Core Lightning’s official signed release binaries to ensure the security fixes are included. Your node will restart and reconnect automatically.
🚨 The security fix is now available for the Core Lightning app on @umbrel. Update as soon as possible.
This updates Core Lightning to v26.06.7 and removes the temporary offline mode, so your node will reconnect to peers and resume Lightning payments and routing.
Core Lightning 26.06.7 is out and recommended for every node runner.
It fixes vulnerabilities reported over the past three weeks, during a sharp rise in AI-generated reports across open source Bitcoin. Details stay under embargo for two weeks, then all published.

Per @Core_LN guidance, your node stays running and watching Bitcoin, but disconnects from the Lightning Network for now.
Core Lightning will publish a signed release with the fix. We’ll ship it as soon as it is available.

Core Lightning has been triaging a high volume of AI-generated CVE reports over recent weeks. Several are real, and a coordinated fix is underway.
What to do now: do not shut your node down. Restart it with --offline.
That flag stops peer connections, so no payments route in, out or through your node. It keeps running, which means it keeps watching the chain and can still act if a counterparty force-closes a channel. A node that is powered off cannot do that, and that is why switching off is the worse option.
On @umbrel or @start9labs this is a startup setting for Core Lightning, not a toggle in the dashboard.
What happens next: signed binaries will be published. Verify the signatures before you install, then bring your node back online. Source and reproducible builds follow afterwards so anyone can audit what changed.

Have no chill and want to triple-check after update?
In umbrelOS go to: Settings → Advanced → Terminal → App → Core Lightning
Run:
lightning-cli listconfigs offline
This confirms CLN started offline. Under "offline", look for:
"set": true
"source": "cmdline"
Then run:
lightning-cli listpeers | jq '[.peers[].connected] | any'
This checks for any live peer connection. You'll want to see:
false
The UI may show peers/channels because CLN retains their records while disconnected. The false result confirms no peers are connected.

When fixed binaries drop, attackers can analyze them to identify the vulnerabilities and target unpatched @Core_LN nodes.
The app update on @umbrel puts CLN offline. Anyone who installs it is protected if they miss the fixed update at first.
We’ll ship the fix as soon as available.

This is not accurate.
The main concern is that LLM analysis of the initial binary release will allow bad actors to exploit. Those concerned, who will be unable to upgrade quickly, should run offline for a while.
