Honoring the life of Rev. Jesse Jackson (1941–2026), a steadfast champion of justice, equality and human dignity. From marching with Dr. King to founding the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, his voice lifted the marginalized and inspired generations.
I hope this will provide encouragement to all carrying heavy burdens in silence.

In Jan 2023, we took on a bold challenge — partnering with the Govt of Kenya, under H.E. @WilliamsRuto, to revive the Galana Kulalu Food Security Project through a PPP.
At Selu, a 100% Kenyan company, we’re proving that when Africans believe in themselves, nothing is impossible.

Our investment in the Galana Kulalu Food Security Project in Kilifi and Tana River Counties is now bearing fruit. Today we begin the first major maize harvest on 330 acres, with each acre expected to yield 28 to 30 bags.
Already, 1,500 acres have been planted. By the end of this year, a further 1,700 acres will be under cultivation, bringing the total to 5,400 acres.
This progress, together with our broader agricultural reforms, is driving Kenya towards food security and enabling us to produce surplus for export.
It’s was great catch up with H.E. Abdullswamad S. Nassir, Governor of Mombasa County, as I continue to Chair the Board of the Mombasa Investment Corporation and explore ways to accelerate private sector investment in the county.
Excited to share the work we are doing as Selu in Galana Kulalu, this has been over two years in the making and this I believe will start moving the needle on sustainable food security in Kenya.
Today we mourn the passing of Mohammed Buhari, a son of Nigeria whose presence left an indelible mark. His memory will endure in the hearts of those he touched. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who grieve this profound loss.
May his soul rest in peace. 🇳🇬🕊️

Food spend by households:
1. Only 4 counties spend less than 50.0% of income
on food - Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu & Kajiado
2. Counties in Western & Nyanza regions that are expected to have food spend about 2/3rds
of income on food
3. Highest food expenditure is in Turkana (76.2%) and Wajir (71.0%)
I penned some reflections on Twiga's journey and feeling bullish about what the future holds. medium.com/@peter_45493/an-e…

"a common misconception is that Venture Capital = Investing in Startups. The conditions that make a company a potential 100x or 1000x investment return are so restrictive in scope that it only applies to a narrow subset of all startups out there."

I like how @TwigaFoods is taking leadership in communicating the challenges & and what's being actioned to steer the ship to safety. Too often, businesses fail to lead transformation comms and leave that role to journalists. – at Nairobi, Kenya

In the last 24 months, the macroeconomic environment has changed dramatically, locally and internationally, escalating the cost of capital significantly. At Twiga, we are undertaking a corporate transformation initiative that aims to better position the company in this new reality, to sustainably meet its vision of making food more accessible in Kenya and across Africa.

The first 500-acre trial crop in Galana. Great success. Next year, with the private sector, we will expand to 20,000 acres and progressively to 200,000 acres in 4 years. This is part of our food security plan to eliminate the shame of hunger from our motherland. Forward always.
