Kamlesh Pattni masterminded the Goldenberg scandal that cost Kenya up to KSh 100 billion. In April 2013, Justice Joseph Mutava cleared him. Mutava was later investigated and removed from the judiciary for receiving bribes to acquit Pattni. On the day of the acquittal, Boniface Mwangi confronted Pattni in the court corridors, called him a thief, and had to be held back from giving him instant justice. The courts protected the thief. The people almost didn’t.

Many people commenting about Praise Aloikin obviously do not know the resolve of the young lady they’re talking about. Here is part of her acceptance speech for the EU Human Rights Defenders Award 2025

NARRATION OF PRAISE ALOIKIN’S ABDUCTION by Louis, who was with her at the time of the abduction. Louis is a friend and classmate of Aloikin, and yesterday, 26/09/2026, visited her at home in Namungoona. Earlier in the day, Aloikin had picked up her house carpet, which she had left at a washing bay that also washes such laundry. While at home, the man who had washed the carpet called, saying she had taken the wrong carpet, and that there was another woman who had left a similar carpet. Praise insisted the carpet she picked was hers and that the man also knew that to be true since he was the one who washed it and also gave it to her. The said woman would later call, insisting that she was a housemaid and the boss wanted the carpet. Praise asked the woman what the colour of the carpet was, and the woman gave a different description, to which Praise said it wasn’t the one and also took pictures that he shared with them to prove that her carpet was of a different description. Louise notes that these photos were never opened on WhatsApp since the app was showing a single tick. They insisted and said they would escalate the issue by taking the matter to the police, to which Praise said it was okay; she would come to the police with the said carpet as exhibit. They would later receive a call from the area police station summoning them over the same. Louise moved with Praise to Namungoona police station. They found a police officer in uniform who, upon inquiry about the issue, said they weren’t aware of such a case but asked them to move to the next room. They entered the next room, where they found officers who weren’t in Uniform. These asked them to sit. One of them started speaking. They said CMI had been tracking Praise and that the CDF wanted her. At that point, Praise started taking pictures of the officers. They then started grabbing her while telling her to stop taking pictures. Immediately, they called officers from outside, some of whom were in military Uniform. These were called by a man, Louise believes, who was the head of the operation; they drove the drone close and carried her. At this point, Praise was still trying to martial her way out. Louise tried to intervene to save her, but the men pointed guns at her and told him, “Young man, sit down.” At that point, Praise was put in a drone and whisked away. The drone number was UA875AC, as read by Louise. After Praise was taken, Louise asked the police officer who had been at the reception where Praise was being taken, and they responded, “They are taking her to Entebbe police station where people like her are disciplined.” That was how the ordeal happened. Important to note is that Praise was not taken to Entebbe police station; official inquiries have been made, and the police at Entebbe deny any knowledge of her whereabouts. As of now, information regarding her whereabouts and whether she is still alive remains unknown. #FreePraiseAloikin

Just learnt of the abduction of this young female activist, Praise Aloikin Opoloje, this evening! She is a vocal critic of the NRM regime, with her most recent video focusing on Mr. Museveni's infantile son & cowardly army commander, Muhoozi, who has proven unable to act his age or rank. We call for Aloikin's unconditional release and an end to this State criminality! #BringBackOurPeople!

The Witness in the treason case against jailed Dr. Kizza Besigye has told the High Court in Kampala that Kenyan police planted two pistols and staged the entire crime scene before Besigye and co-accused Hajji Obeid Lutale walked into it on the day of their arrest in Nairobi.

.@lynn_ngugi1 That first sentence and the last one, says it all. May we remain true to what we believe in, to the very end. And when that end comes, we know we were always true to ourselves.
I think the most painful part about fighting for change is watching people you genuinely believed were part of the movement slowly water it down, shake hands with murderers, laugh with them, sit comfortably around the very oppressors they once condemned, then come back with all sorts of explanations and excuses for why they were there, why it was necessary and why we shouldn’t read too much into it. And you’re left wondering, was any of this ever real, or were some of these people simply well calculated psyops from the very beginning? And then you find yourself asking an even harder question, are the lives we lost not personal to you? Because for some of us, they are. We remember the young people who lost their lives fighting for a better country, the families that had to bury their children, the blood that was spilled, and maybe that’s why it’s so difficult to understand how someone who stood beside you through all of that can suddenly sit comfortably, laugh and shake hands with the very people we were fighting against 🥹 And somewhere along the way, you begin to understand why people like Patrice Lumumba, Dedan Kimathi, Thomas Sankara and so many other African heroes were killed so brutally. It wasn’t always because they didn’t have people around them. Many did. The problem was that some of the very people they believed they were fighting alongside had already sold out long before the fight was over. Perhaps that is one of the hardest truths about fighting for change, eventually you realise that people really do have a price. Politics is indeed a dirty game, and I have a feeling 2027 will expose even more about people’s character. But I really hope the few who genuinely believe in change don’t give up. Is it easy? Absolutely not. But I believe there is something deeply fulfilling about knowing that even if you died today, you never sold out, never shook hands with murderers and never became comfortable with people who have blood on their hands simply because they offered you money, access or power. Does that make you a hero? Absolutely not. It simply means you remained honest about what you stood for. And eventually, when money no longer matters, when power no longer matters and when all the noise has died down, I think being able to live with yourself knowing you never betrayed what you believed in is what will matter most. WANTAM!

#Tanzania is not safe ❌ Just today the illegitimate government charged 20-30 individuals including university students and lecturers with terrorism simply for calling for Samia Suluhu’s resignation and possibly organizing peaceful protests This is lawfare but the government is clearly desperate enough to organize false flag incident(s) and may even target tourists! There are no guarantees! Skip #Tanzania for now - you will thank me later! #TanzaniaIsNotSafe #TanzaniaMassacre

THE LAKE REGION HAS SPOKEN. CIVIC SPACE MUST BE PROTECTED. This week, civil society organizations, residents, and human rights defenders came together to condemn the escalating violence, intimidation, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, and shrinking civic space across Kenya. The statement reaffirmed solidarity with all those defending democracy, human rights, and constitutional freedoms, including The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA) and other organizations facing intimidation for their work. The statement also strongly condemned the attack on St. Stephen's Cathedral, Kisumu, and all actions that undermine the sanctity of religious institutions as safe spaces for worship, refuge, humanitarian support, and peaceful civic engagement. For years, St. Stephen's Cathedral has opened its doors for citizen assemblies on public debt, governance, accountability, taxation, and Kenya's future. Alongside the Diocese of Kisumu, it has remained a courageous voice for justice and democratic dialogue. An attack on civic space is an attack on democracy itself. #ProtectCivicSpace #DefendDemocracy #TGIF
