This is serious! I am travelling by train to Prague and Shrooms have been keeping me connected to my infra the whole time - even when the internet went down, it recovered quickly. I am so proud of this app! The Logos Testnet v0.3 changes things though - I have to figure out RLN for Shrooms - and that's gonna be tough from the UX perspective:(

< " An economy that can only value what is scarce will keep destroying what is abundant to manufacture more scarcity. " > * 'Current-sees': Money is not, first of all, a store of value; it is a way of seeing and directing flow. This is the problem Holochain was built to solve. decent.holoventures.io/03-wh… 1. "A single national currency, optimised for large-scale trade, is extraordinarily good at what it does — and, like any monoculture, efficient but fragile, and unable to carry the kinds of value it was never designed for. Healthy ecosystems are plural; a resilient economy would be too. Not one currency, but many — national money for the trade and capital it already serves well, and alongside it the currencies it has no way to express: for local exchange, for regenerative work, for the trust between communities." 2. "This is the problem Holochain was built to solve. Before it was infrastructure for anything else, it was infrastructure for currencies: a substrate for issuing plural currencies that measure real value and clearing between them, with no central mint, at the scale the theory always needed and never had. Everything that follows — the accounting engine, the mutual credit currency, the marketplace — is that substrate taking shape. And it reaches maturity as serious economics reaches for the same thing again: regenerative and bioregional finance, complementary currencies, the search for money that measures real value rather than only extracting it. The ideas are old and well-founded. What is new is that the coordination layer to run them now exists."

Are you one of the 10 peer villages we want in our global village network? We've been working hard for 6+ years, prototyping systems to scale regenerative solarpunk villages into mainstream. In the process we learned a lot, and now we are ready to help the next wave of adopters.
If you are currently building a regenerative village/ecovillage/community retreat center/solarpunk neighborhood/permaculture utopia, we would love to join forces. OASA Village Fund has raised 110k$ to distribute this fall to a cohort of 10 villages this fall!

Age verification is not a measure that only applies to children. Because to keep one age group off a platform, you have to establish the age of everyone on it. Von der Leyen used today's State of the Union address to present plans on age restrictions for social media. “No social media under the age of 13. No personal account under the age of 15,” Von der Leyen said, adding platforms would also have to introduce “safe design” for under-18s. The objective is legitimate and widely shared, but an age gate is an identity layer by another name, and it affects the entire user base rather than the group it is meant to protect. Whether this proposal is a problem depends almost entirely on which verification method is required, not on the age threshold, and not on which platforms are in scope. Practically speaking, this will likely create an ID verification requirement for using large parts of the internet. Reporting ahead of the speech gave some indication of where this was heading, but one could not predict the speech’s bombshell announcement: that Canada could become the EU’s first “associate member”. The speech ranged well beyond this, too, with topics such as the long-discussed European Security Council, bringing together the EU and like-minded countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Ukraine and Norway; the strategic role of European data, particularly in the context of healthcare; and the broader role of Europe in AI development also making the list.

Revolut didn’t get “hacked.” It handed customers’ IDs, addresses, account numbers, transaction histories, selfies and more to an unauthorized third party after receiving a fake government request. That’s the real KYC problem: once companies are forced to collect your most sensitive data, you’re trusting them to protect it for years. More ID checks = more leaks. Yet, governments are constantly pushing for more ID checks to access basic aspects of daily life, like social media... reclaimthenet.org/revolut-le…

Freedom Browser creates an alternative vision for what the open web could be: user-owned, peer-to-peer, non-custodial, self-sovereign, private, secure, open-source, censorship resistant. When Apple released its browser in January 2003 , the web was dominated by Microslop's Internet Explorer. Steve's vision was do call their browser "Freedom". 23 years later, it's finally happening.

So many people love art, support artists and buy works, yet still tell us, “No, no, I’m not a collector.” Let’s move beyond the historical and social baggage surrounding the word “collector” so more people can recognize themselves as patrons of the arts.
Who gets to be an art collector? More people than we think. Many people who love art still assume collecting isn’t for them. Digital art can make that first step feel even harder. Read our interview with Pauline Foessel on why we created 100 + 1 = 101 to help ↓ 100collectors.art/info/artic…
