😡😡It is offensive that Thames Water could be bailed out and then allowed to hike our water bills AGAIN, beyond the 36% average hike by 2030 already approved
Our director, @CatHobbs, has written to the government to block the bill hike and take water into public ownership

The Times has pulled together the evidence of Russian activity around the 2016 referendum: Russia-linked social-media networks, bot activity, state media propaganda and the same wider interference techniques seen in other democracies.
But the most important point is still the one Parliament’s Russia Report raised in 2020:
Britain never properly investigated it.
Russia expert Keir Giles puts it starkly: the UK “carefully looked away from what was happening.”
That is why asking whether anyone can prove Russia changed the result misses the point. Before you can assess impact, you have to establish what happened.
And ten years later, Britain is still trying to answer that question.

BREAKING NEWS: Billionaire Sir Richard Branson launches a SCATHING attack on Trump and his disgusting coziness with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that gets under Trump’s skin...
"I never thought I’d have to say this in my lifetime, but it’s 2026, and unfortunately, nothing is the way it used to be," wrote Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, on LinkedIn. "The Trump administration has become an enabler of autocrats and dictators, placing their personal whims ahead of the interests of the American people and the free world. What is it about Putin that makes President Trump fawn over him?"
"How can America’s allies ever trust this administration again, when it is now turning against them in a time of war and suffering?" he asked.
Trump has repeatedly betrayed our Ukrainian allies in recent days. First, he announced a shocking deal with Putin to allow millions of barrels of diesel onto global markets—a move that will inject cash directly into the Russian war machine. Then, he launched a concerted smear campaign against President Zelenskyy, claiming that Putin is "easier to deal with."
The betrayals escalated when Washington failed to provide its customary early warning to Kyiv regarding an imminent Russian ballistic missile attack. Now, it appears the White House has ordered a temporary suspension of Starshield—a military version of Elon Musk’s Starlink, upon which the Ukrainian armed forces rely.
"The throttling of Starlink/Starshield and the inexplicable failure to provide advance warning of Russian missile launches have already led to the needless deaths of Ukrainian civilians," Branson wrote. "How much worse can it get?" "If one thing is clear, it’s that European leaders must move past the initial shock of Trump’s recent actions and step up. This is as much about European freedom as it is about Ukraine’s sovereignty. Both are worth fighting for," he continued. "Every option should now be on the table—from transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, to delivering advanced weapons systems like the German Taurus."
"Why, oh why, is this happening? We cannot allow the free world to be dismantled before our very eyes," Branson concluded.
We couldn’t agree more. Trump is an enemy of Ukraine, an enemy of democracy, and an enemy of the American people. When the Democrats regain power, we will have a major task ahead of us. Every trace of this monstrous man’s legacy must be erased.
Please ❤️ and share if you think Trump is Putin’s puppet!

Allowing this dead-company-walking to be bailed out again, instead of taking it into Special Administration and then permanent public ownership, would be a disgrace and a betrayal by the Andy Burnham government
Enough is enough.
Thank you @Feargal_Sharkey for standing up for a water system that delivers for us, not profiteers

Fucking hell, that ITV investigation into Reform UK is horrific.
We can’t get desensitised to this…
Reform politicians talk about Muslims how the Nazis talked about the Jews.
Anyone that fails to condemn it is complicit.

Good news alert so it'll be largely ignored.
UK economy growing a bit better than expected.

🚨 👏 Another huge brick falls out of the Brexit wall.
The British Chambers of Commerce says repairing the economic damage from Brexit should be a top government priority.
More than half of the businesses it surveys say the current UK-EU trading arrangement is not working for them.
This is no longer about replaying 2016.
It is about looking at the economy we actually have in 2026 and asking what arrangement gives British businesses the best chance to grow.
Brexit is increasingly being judged by its results, not its promises.

🚨 Goldman Sachs has put numbers on Brexit choices.
Current Brexit deal: +0.3% GDP
Customs union: +1%
Single Market: up to +5%
Full EU membership: up to +6%
And Goldman estimates the UK economy is already around 6% smaller than its counterfactual path since the 2016 referendum.
Non wonder the debate is changing. The further Britain moves back towards Europe, the larger the potential economic dividend.
Brexit was sold as a growth strategy, but now 10 years later, the growth strategy is undoing Brexit asap.

🤩 The Brexit debate is moving very fast now.
Bernd Lange, @berndlange chair of the European Parliament’s trade committee and a veteran of the Brexit negotiations, says Britain could move quickly into a *Switzerland plus* relationship with the EU.
In other words, the choice is not simply: Hard Brexit forever or wait years for full re-entry.
There are routes back towards deep economic integration much faster than that.
And once again, the message from Europe is not stay away.
It is: if Britain wants to come closer, the door is open.

In 2016 Nigel Farage said that leaving the EU would mean fewer (white) migrants from the European Union.
Suggesting we would have more (black and brown) migrants from Commonwealth/other countries.
So when Brexiters are upset at th emigration mix, not only were the told this, but they voted for it.
