🧵Thursday was a good day. We announced important #opioid settlement investments, but one close to my ❤️ is our 7.5M investment in the Kensington community to support a community driven, strengths based, and trauma informed holistic plan. Learn more ➡️Kensingtonplan.org
1/3 🧵Thank you @Eagles for hosting Eagles Day at Conwell Middle School today! 🦅 Conwell’s inaugural flag football team led by Mr Washington got hyped up by @PhillyMayor and ran drills with Swoop, Eagles Legend Jason Avant #81, @PhillyPolice, and my team the ORU! ….
2/3 @j_avant81 is a class act who inspired and engaged the young people and the 24th District Police Officers represented - look at that ball protection! Philly finest protecting and serving! @PhillyPolice @PPDMMcCarrick @PPDAnthonyLuca ….
3/3 None of this would have happened without the tireless advocacy and hustling of my phenomenal Deputy Director Keli McLoyd! The ORU had a great day with the kids - thank you Conwell community! ❤️ @PhiladelphiaGov

Being invited to City Hall to speak as a Kensington 🚺Principal during Women’s History Month is a memorable experience. I asked all councilmembers to visit, walk the path & talk to students. 👀@PhillyMayor @PHLschoolboard @PHLschools @PHLCouncil “Nuestra casa es su CASArez”
Full house today for historic @PhillyMayor presenting big and bold budget to City Council - here we go! No new taxes with more investments for public safety, clean and green, economic opportunity, housing, and education. #OnePhilly

I'm very concerned about the spiking overdose rate, especially among Black Philadelphians. Twice as many of our neighbors fatally overdose every year than die from gun violence, and it is only getting worse. (1/2)

OMG this is brilliant. This woman put her tech skills to use to troll VA Gov. Glenn Youngkin over a tipline he put up to report CRT. Her talk will give you life.

I think this would have been more powerful if it was narrated by Kylie and having her tell them they’re playing like jackasses and to get their shit together
The team is back together! 🙏🏾So happy for my friend newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Pedro Rosario - commanding officer for all @PhillyPolice Kensington initiatives! This man is the definition of public service, and I can't think of someone better suited to take up the charge!
The energy in the room for his swearing in was positively electric, some happy tears, and lots of hope - I am excited to serve and GTY "get to yes" with DC Rosario! Thank you @PhillyMayor and @PPDCommish for recognizing the best person for the moment - lets get to work!

Full house today at the historic Met to witness so many firsts on Inauguration Day in Philly! My 8yo can’t believe it has taken this long for a woman to lead Philadelphia - same! As a queer mom and daughter of immigrant, I truly appreciate @Rue_Landau @NinaAhmadPHL swearing in!
Our 100th Mayor! Cherelle Parker swearing in and celebrating partnership with newly elected Council President Johnson and sharing her vision for the next 100 days! @PhillyMayor @PeopleforParker

GOP learns the hard way: Turning the base up too high blows out your Speaker

Just a reminder that with the *exact same margin* that Republicans currently have, Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act, American Rescue Plan, Infrastructure package, gun safety law, PACT Act, CHIPS Act, and reauthorized VAWA.
Republicans can't even choose a Speaker.
Day 1 of Mayor Adam’s Fentanyl Summit in NYC in the books and Philadelphia shared lessons learned and best practices with jurisdictions from across the country, and hosted the keynote on xylazine impacts and innovate solutions. Looking forward to tomorrow’s discussion.

Josh Kruger wrote his stories for the oft-forgotten Philadelphians who needed an outspoken advocate, and he did so with compassion, humanity and common sense. Here is a look at some of his coverage over the years:
