The 2024 #NobelPrize laureates in chemistry Demis Hassabis and John Jumper have successfully utilised artificial intelligence to predict the structure of almost all known proteins.
In 2020, Hassabis and Jumper presented an AI model called AlphaFold2. With its help, they have been able to predict the structure of virtually all the 200 million proteins that researchers have identified. Since their breakthrough, AlphaFold2 has been used by more than two million people from 190 countries. Among a myriad of scientific applications, researchers can now better understand antibiotic resistance and create images of enzymes that can decompose plastic.

Now that I have some time, let me tell y’all about the DISRESPECT that Black In Neuro experienced by SfN staff last night 🤬
We did an #SfN24 “sponsored social” and I am livid with how we were treated.
I don’t care what you say to me, but you will NOT disrespect my team.

Thanks to everyone who came to talk about our #machinelearning analysis of DRG neurons at #SfN24 I got lots of questions about the code I use to #automate #ephys analysis and the machine learning #code we used. Here is my #github github.com/DocNessMonster/ep…
This explains a lot 🤣 New research shows #insomnia leads to increase in #pain and that this association is greater in girls.
Original: Drs. Tor Arnison, @TonyaPalermo et al. observed that the predictive strength of insomnia symptoms for future pain is 3.5x greater in girls, w/ distinct gender-specific pathways: rumination ➡girls, while depressed mood ➡boys.

So awful. My thoughts go out to #ruidoso. This reminds me of the Cerro Grande fire. I remember escaping and watching my hometown burn down in the national news. Sending so much love.
