ALT A black-and-white image shows a very rocky landscape of Mars from the viewpoint of the Curiosity rover. In the far background is a haze that covers up some of hills and sandy terrain. Closer to the rover, the sandy Martian surface is littered with smooth and bumpy rocks that slope down along a hill toward the far left. There are some wheel tracks closer to the foreground. On the right side of the image is part of the rover's body, a piece that is oval-shaped sits along the backside of the rover.
