The new “progressive” Democratic position—that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and enforcing apartheid in the West Bank, where settler terrorists run rampant with government and military support, yet we shouldn’t impose an arms embargo or support the Palestinians’ right to resistance—is completely incoherent and indefensible.

Brad, ur in Palestine. Pls exercise some humility. Listen more, lecture less. Framing the targeting of soldiers as a “cycle of violence” - rather than resistance 2 apartheid & genocide- while also not demanding US sanctions/arms embargo is asking Palestinians to die politely.
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured. I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response. I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image. For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

As has been pointed out already Brad Lander also opposes BDS so his missive on nonviolence is horseshit. There’s no appropriate way in his mind to fight back against occupation. Just sit back and let them dominate you until the people in power grow a conscience I guess.

Any politician who claims to be a defender of the Palestinian cause, but who condemns their use of force against the military forces that occupy and oppress them, is a fraud.
On Wednesday, New York politician Brad Lander called Israel's occupation a crime. On Friday, he described the killing of two Israeli soldiers in the illegally occupied West Bank a "criminal act." The two soldiers were killed at an illegal Israeli military checkpoint near Hebron, in territory where the International Court of Justice ruled in 2024 that Israel’s continued presence is unlawful. Under international humanitarian law, military personnel are generally legitimate targets, and attacking them is not in itself a war crime, unlike deliberately targeting civilians. The act of armed resistance is “criminal,” however, under Israeli military law, which Israel unlawfully imposes on Palestinians in the illegally occupied West Bank. The UN General Assembly has repeatedly affirmed "the legitimacy of the struggle of peoples" against "foreign occupation by all available means, including armed struggle," most notably in Resolution 37/43 in 1982. No civilians were reported killed in Friday's operation.

brad really is one of the most cowardly frauds coming to congress next year. i need dsa members to stop making excuses for him. the only thing he did for zohran was delay consolidation of the left flank and be slightly less annoying than he could have.

Look my take here is that NYC DSA leadership are being purposefully obtuse in order to obfuscate the fact that Mamdani funding the JCRC is a direct violation of R.22’s ban on affiliating Zionist lobbying orgs, which is an expellable offense

Planting a doomed olive tree for Palestine and then immediately setting up a $28m fund for the defense of Jewish feelings is just too good. This guy's going places.

The common assumption that a woman is lying about a gang rape because she's covering up enjoying a salacious sexual night is illogical if you spend 5 seconds actually thinking about it. "Yes, I feel ashamed for being such a slut let me go to the police and tell everyone about it"

My dear brother William @willmenaker Today, we did not send you an ordinary message of gratitude. Instead, we decided to write our gratitude on the walls of Gaza itself. The young members of Project Mohammed painted your portrait on one of the walls still standing amid the destruction, because your voice has never been merely distant words to us. Here, your voice has become water for thirsty children, bread for hungry families, and meals for people exhausted by hunger. The war may have destroyed the buildings around us, but it could never erase the gratitude in our hearts. We wanted your portrait to remain here, among the people you stood beside during the most difficult days of their lives. When the children saw the mural, we told them: “This is William—a man who may be far away, but whose heart is very close to Gaza. His voice helped bring you water and bread.” This is not simply a portrait on a shattered wall. It is a message from Gaza to you: You did not witness our suffering and remain silent. You helped the world see and hear us. Because of you, our team has been able to give thousands of families a measure of hope and life. From the children of Gaza, the young members of Project Mohammed, and the depths of our hearts: thank you, brother. You have become part of the story of this place, and your impact will remain engraved in our hearts—even if these walls disappear one day. 🤍 Support Project Mohammed directly: chuffed.org/project/171225
