Since launching @LabPolyak in 1998, Kornelia Polyak, MD, PhD, has focused on a fundamental question: how does breast cancer form? New research suggests that shifts in immune activity may be one of the earliest steps. Learn more: bit.ly/4sXDUP3

Do not ship precious perishable samples with #FEDEx especially not international. Even if they have all paperwork they don’t deliver in time - they do not care.

Dr. Kornelia Polyak (@nellage) discussed the molecular and immunological basis of #BreastCancer across the age continuum in the #SABCS25 session on breast cancer in young women. @LabPolyak

Our study on histone tail cleavage is out today in @NatureGenet . We found KDM4C prevents CTSL-mediated histone H3 tail clipping by modulating its recruiter GRHL2, reducing oxidative stress and promoting basal tumor growth. Congrats to @ZheqiL @nellage

happy to share our manuscript that just came out in Nature Genetics, it took us more than 10 years to solve this puzzle.

This will harm cancer centers, where most cancer research is done. They don’t have endowment. Why would anyone want to destroy hospitals that work on saving lives???
Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as “indirect costs.” Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above what many major foundations allow and much lower than the 60%+ that some institutions charge the government today. This change will save more than $4B a year effective immediately.
Sadly I will miss the first Halloween MCO party, but at least our lab is represented.
🎃Polyak lab is getting ready for the MCO halloween pumpkin decoration contest! Huge shoutout to @MarieAnneGoyet1 and Andriana who made this piece of work based on the lab logo! Science and creativity go hand in hand!
and our first aging paper is out! @LabPolyak @DFCI_BreastOnc
